Anybody Going to Cookeville?

Kevin is going to try to call me and give me some updates occasionally so stay tuned. I will post as I receive the info.

So everybody, all at once say.........THANKS KEVIN.

Just got an update from our on the spot reporter Kevin who by the way is ringside sitting next to Hall of Famer Vernon Elliott. The game is race to 30 (2 sets) alternate break with a neutral racker. The 9 ball will be placed on the spot. Johnny just showed up about 10 minutes ago and is currently hammering balls into the felt to train the table persay. After a few test breaks he said he would be ready. They expect to kick this off about 8:30 E (7:30 C)

Til next time,

The score is 5-5 w/ Pickle breaking. There are no no jump cues allowed in the match also. There has been some tremendous safety battles so far and both players are battling. I should have another update in about 30-45 min.

I'm surprised it is alternate the break. Johnny must have some wealthy stakehorses because this format takes him from being a huge favorite to a slight favorite. The alternate break format is going to turn this thing into a huge dogfight. I still think Archer's experience and seasoning will prevail even though it's probably been awhile since he's gambled on the pool table. Last I heard of it was when he played Shane in louisville a year or two ago? Anyhow, good luck to all the participants in Cookeville and let it be known the rest of the country (probably world) is extremely jealous that you all get to see this action on a weekly basis:(

Yeah, I was in Louisville when Johnny gave SVB the 7 & 8. I thought he was nuts but at least he broke even with the game. He likes to show the up and comers just where they are on the pecking order.;)

I wanted to let everyone know that Bobby and Johnny are going to play one race tonight and another tomorrow night. Anyone that wants to make the trip up for the set tomorrow should make plans now. The way the first set seems to be unfolding it should be a doozie.

Latest update: Game is tied 9-9 and the players are on a 15 minute break. There are many players in attendance for this matchup. I didn't get the whole rundown but among the gallery is recent 10 ball World Runner-Up Cliff Joyner and reigning US Open One Pocket champ Nic Vita. There is some action being laid out as we speak.

I probably will not be up to give reports for the long haul but I am sure the match will get updated by someone.

So what's up now? Anybody know? How did the game get from 10 ahead winner breaks to a race to 30 alternate breaks 9 on the spot. Seems like a pretty lame way to gamble. Last I heard it was 15-13 Archer, then nothing. Did they stop playing?

Evidently it was to have been 12 ahead for 20 bags on the bar box. It was then changed to 2 races to 30, so I assume they're playing for 10 bags each set, but I don't know. There is a thread about the contest on Southern Billiards.

10 bags total each set. They are supposed to play again tonight - same bat time, same bat place, same bat channel.

I have to go win a tournament tonight so I might not be able to post on the match but if I get a chance I will try to put up a little info.

The match was very close until the score was Archer 23 Pickle 21! Pickle could not make a ball on the break at the end. When he did he was hooked everytime. Making balls on the break in the last 8 games was the only difference in the match. Pickle played very well! It seems that there will be a golf match with Archer and a couple of locals today or tomorrow as well.
