Anybody here know "The Back", Joel Solomon?

I remember Joel as a kid. I would say late 80's - 91... He frequented a ring game at a poolroom in Hillsborough, NC. He played quite well as I remember. He use to have the edge in the game as the past post correspond. He was quite, did not say much, pushed his glasses up a lot... :) The one thing about this guy that always stuck out about this guy was his handshake... Very soft and light... I know its a little weird but I remember that. He gave me a few pointers as well... Nice Dude!!!!!
 
Memories and past

I always consider it a compliment to the memory of a friend who has died when his old friends remember certain little characteristic s or mannerisms.

It us important to be remembered - everybody would like to leave something- and it doesn't have to a material thing.

It is part of the human spirit.

And not all all memories are complimentary - but they are memories.

Probably better to say things to them while they are still alive - but not always easy to do!

Big Joe story

In the late 80s to early 90s Big Joel was a regular at the Sport Palace in New Orleans. One day we all sitting around and Lottsappa comes in with a tiny Mexican girl.Lottsappa was so big he made Joel look small, Lotts tipped the scale about 550 or more and the tiny Mexican girl weighed about 85 soaking wet. Big Joel was noted as the tightest guy with a buck at the Palace and he leaned over and told me he would give $50 to watch Pappa and the girl have sex,, so I,laughed at first, then I realized he was serious. Joel was a wired guy for sure but back then he played just the right speed to make a decent living in most big city pool rooms because he was VERY careful who he matched up a game with.

The 'Grinder' also played TOP speed Ping Pong and hustled it REAL good!
