Anybody know the maker of this 2x4 case?

Nice looking case but imho this is definitely not one of the American Master case makers. It is difficult to call it even with the additional images but I was in Kaohsiung a few years back for the WPC and saw many cases on trade stands with similar type tooling. Quite a few guys were picking them up at reasonable prices in quantity.
If it is Taiwanese made and not a cheaper version from the PRC (no disrespect intended to my Chinese friends over there) it should be quite well built.
I wish you well with the sale

This case is NOT a Justis West. I have seen them all, and this is not it.

As John (JB Cases) mentioned, we were the only authorized distributor that carried the Justis West cases. There were roughly a total of only 54 Justis West cases ever brought in and sold by us. I believe they went for $450 for the 2x4 and $550 for the 3x6. They are Pro-Lite with full backing and support from Jack back then. And yes, the quality of the Justis West cases were just as good as what Jack makes -perhaps with the exception of the zipper.

As soon as we were aware of the disagreement between Jack Justis and the factory, we stepped aside and stopped carrying the Justis West cases all together. Even though we were asked several times to continue carrying them in the past, we simply couldn't do it. The brand is history now. :frown:

I just want to say that it is not a Justis West case that we carried.

thanks!

Thanks for the info! wow This is confusing
If it's not a Justis west case what is it?
I had to put a note in my listing so people bidding wouldn't think I was trying to sell something that it wasn't.

Michael Thanks again!

Citizen I forgot to say thanks also!

Sorry to disagree Mike but I think that this is one of the JW cases that was produced for Ozone billiards with no logo on it.

This is what Jack had to say about them.

"Justis knockoff cases - 06-12-2012, 05:23 AM
I would personally like to praise Ozone Billiards for something you do not see everyday in the billiards industry......having integrity and being honest.

After talking to Shawn Gargano, owner of Ozone Billiards about the blatant copies of our cases shown on the Ozone Billiards web site, he immediately removed the listing of these specific cases without any demands from me. I briefly explained the agreement we had with the John Lin Case factory in using our designs was void when Mr. Lin failed to make the first payment due. Shawn was told by the factory that we authorized them to make the blatant copies. Guess that tells you something about Chinese integrity and honesty.

This gesture on Ozone Billiards part is worthy to be made known to all of you in AZ land who buys pool and billiard related products. If you want to deal with a company that has the integrity and knows right from wrong.....you can't do better that Ozone Billiards. We recommend them highly.

JUSTIS CASES"

So I think that this case is a Justis West without the brand name on it. I think it was produced by John Lin's factory, Long Chan, and sold to Ozone and probably got out on the market before Ozone pulled them from teh website.

What I find particularly noxious is that Ozone is being praised for integrity but they still carry copies of other brands of cases. And the question remains what happened to the actual cases? The images were pulled from the website but did Mr. Gargano destroy the product or are these unbranded Justis West cases being sold through other means?

Here is a very similar case being shown in the thumbnail on Ozone's site

I would bet that the cases were not destroyed and not returned. My bet is that they have found their way to the market by other means. Of course I could be wrong and if so then I apologize but this case being shown is 99% a Justis West with no logo in my opinion.

And lastly the brand is not dead at all. John Lin-Long Chan continues to make and sell cases using this brand going so far as to use Jack's original cases mixed in with the imagery in the catalogs and insinuates that the cases are made in the USA. You can find them for sale online in China and Japan.

Your ebay listing is misleading as this is not a Justis West case.

I agree. If there is no logo then there is no way that this can be called a Justis West. It might be made on the same line and be exactly them same but if it's not branded then it's not the real deal.

And based on the evidence we have we can only speculate that the case was made by John Lin but it cannot be sold that way.

I can also echo the same experience from both 1998 and 2002. I even saw "Tim Scruggs" branded cases back then.

The cases could not be returned to China. I did not expect or suggest Ozone to lose money on the deal since then were not aware of our misfortune with John Lin. They were nice enough to remove them from the web site and instead decided to give them as prizes in their sponsored tournaments.

Ok, so I think that this solves the mystery. The OP said he won this case in a Tri-State tour event. Likely that this one is one of the cases Shawn used to sponsor with.

Hopefully they will all filter out to the market and be forgotten soon. I do have empathy for you as I had to deal with people coming up all the time with their Instroke knockoffs asking me if they were real Instroke cases. And I also had to deal with people asking me to repair them. Luckily for you this was nipped in the bud and hopefully there won't be a flood of Justis clones hitting the market. With Instroke I wasn't so lucky as John Lin and others copied all my designs.

Jack Justis & JB Thanks!
