anyone else changes the ferrule on their ob1 shaft

Yes...I had a friend put a tip on for me and
he took the black fiber material off and the
ferrel went to HELL... I sent it back to Royce
and he repaired it for me...
DO NOT TAKE OFF THE BLACK FIBER MATERIAL...

what do you want to change the ferrule to? the wood ferrule is essential for the low deflection properties.

if you don't like the wood ferrule, try the ob classic or classic pro, they have a white plastic ferrule at the expense of a little more deflection.

Yep. Changed it to ivory. Had not noticed any change in deflection properties.

I have all 3, and I think the classic and classic pro have less deflection than the OB1. So.. not so sure they sacrificed anything. They just did it correctly.

Well the reason is the last person to install a tip for me decided to taper my ferrule. I've spoken to many players and just gathering everyones opinions see about their personal encounters with it.
