BHQ said:i should show you the other ferrule installed same day. it has distinct greyish line. aprrox. 1/16th inch wide the length of the ferrule. that is not caused by the tip dust. it was there before the tip was put on. do you think it just might possibly be shitty material??? if it's faulty procedure, wouldn't all of them be bad??? i don't have this problem with other ferrules. ivorine 4 is just as porous if not more porous as the LBM's. my solution is, i won't buy lbm's anymore, period. i'll go elsewhere for different ferrules. i've been considering making my own material. i'm going to get some dirt/junk/crud and add some lbm to it. and sell them for 50 cents. exactly what they are worth
Was that visible in the ferrule before you installed it? I am sorry I was not being critical, just if the problem is from something migrating into the pores of the material it is preventable. I know what you mean by the line. If I remember the original Agges, (not sure how it is spelled), all seemed to look like that. I got some real nice stuff from Prather a while back. I don't even remember what it is but I got a bunch of it after getting a sample and it is nice to work with and plays well. It is a little softer then LBM.
