Does anyone have that picture of Mike Sigel breaking and his shaft flexes on the table? I was trying to show a friend what he did to shafts when he broke with those Meucci shafts.

does it have to be mike sigle ?

ps every shaft bends. on almost every shot

check my slowmo video of a break. u will see hohnmann's cue bend like CRAZY!! makes u get respect for the cue who can handle it.

Just rent "The Color of Money" You can see Tom Cruise doing the same thing (but not as good as Mike.)

Got it.

My local cuemaker has a poster of Mike breaking and I have never seen a shaft bend as much as that since. Just thought somebody might have it here.

i guess im grumpy..casue the movie the color of money cost me a shaft..heheh..i was in Qmasters in Virginia and decided to show off...bowed my sneaky pete like it was made of rubber..did one to many times and i heard the nasty SNAP sound..the cue just didnt break it shattered shards of wood and dust were on the table..i tried to laugh it off but i was so mad at myself. ...now the meat of this post...do you really get more power from your cue by doing this or is more show than go

Hi everyone!......long time no post:)

on the subject of cue bending on the break.....I think the shafts flex more and more as your sponsorship from cue makers increases!!! When you buy your own stuff, you tend NOT to do that:)

I played on a table next to Mike in a tourney, and he would sight down his shaft before breaking and bend the crap out of it if he saw any warpage. Jokingly I picked up my break cue from where it was and moved it away from him....it got a chuckle....

Leave you cue tip on the table after follow through.

I guess this is what the BCA instructors are talking about when they say you should follow through leaving the cue tip on the table.

Not quite, but it IS a decent one. The one I saw was from like the 80's and his shaft flexed twice as much if not more. I will see if I can find it.

Keep 'em coming guys!

Are you talking bout the one from the calendar? I remember one that was on a calendar. It was in black and white.

I think I know the one you're talking about. One of the major pool mags (Billiards Digest or P&B) did a special on the different breaks used by different pros. This must have been in the early 90's sometime, because I remember seeing "Hurricane" Tony Ellin in there. I remember the one for Archer, because they labeled his break style as "In Flight", and I remember the one for Dave Howard because one side of his hair was all sticking up in one big chunk like it was cemented together, LOL. Anyway, there was also a pic of Sigel in there doing his thing; the cue must have been very near the snapping point; at least, I've never seen one bent that much. It seems like you could even see wrinkles in the felt where his tip was pushing into it, but I may be thinking of a different Sigel pic. Maybe somebody at one of the magazines can help you out??

Good luck,
Aaron

I have had people tell me that when I break that I bend the shaft like its about to break. Some people break like that and don't even realize they are doing it, like me. Your putting your all into it to get a good break. I don't do it off the rail for obvious reasons.

I noticed the very same picture last night in the tournament room at Q-masters, at least it may be similar. Is the picture taken from Mike's left side? It was on the US open winner's poster on the ceiling.
