Anyone have Cataract Corrective Surgery?

So I have a cataract and as part of the corrective process, I will have my eye's lens replaced.
There's are basically 3 lens types to choose from, each at different price points.
Has anyone out there had this done and with Pool as a consideration, what type of lens did you choose?

I had both eyes corrected for cataracts. I went with the standard lens, I see 20/20 in the distance and very good up close, I use 1x reading glasses. I didn't go for the split vision lens because I used to wear bifocals and going down stairs was always tricky. I didn't want the one up close and one distance lens because I think depth perception isn't so good. Driving is would be tricky, and pool perhaps also.

I had mine done about two months ago now.

I had worn glasses/contacts for 55 years. My cataracts had gotten bad enough that even with glasses/contacts my corrected vision was in the vicinity of 20/50. My "new eyes" are 20/15 in the right (dominant) eye and 20/20 in the left.

Pool balls that used to look like large, fuzzy, tennis balls are now clear again.

I've heard some stories about people who tried multifocal lenses and we're very disappointed in the results. My thought was it's not like a contact where if it's not working you can change it out, and I didn't want to take any chances, so I had basic, single vision lenses installed. I have absolutely clear vision from about 2 1/2 feet on. I still need cheaters for reading, but that doesn't bother me at all.

All in all, it was absolutely life-changing for me.
 
I had my lenses replaced and LASIC in January.
I opted for both eyes to have perfect distance vision.

I can basically focus on anything from 3 feet away to infinity.
I play pool without glasses (for the first time in 20+ years).
 
I don't think that it makes any difference for some players that play left and right handed, Standard lens, Pray and perfect vision... I played with a patch on one eye and then a patch on the other eye, No game difference i could tell... Guy
 
Howdy;

Had Both eyes done at my VA. That was almost 6 years ago.
They did Left first then Right a few months later.

They just did the single vision lens inserts for both eyes.

Best thing I could have done. Yea, still wear glasses but they
ain't as heavy nor as thick.

Both my eyes were operated on for cataracts, of course it was one eye at a time, i.e., 2 surgeries 3-4 weeks apart.
Best thing that I ever did medically speaking. It was like watching the beginning of the Disneyland, the TV show,
back in the early 60’s. I discovered not only clarity but a world filled with vibrant colors I was missing out on. So I
decided to go with just standard lenses instead of prescription. My vision is almost 20/20 now and I don’t use any
glasses except sunglasses. As you’ll find out, bright sunlight is tough to see with unless you have sunglasses. For
pool, I see as good as anyone would ever need or want to after my surgery. Thank God almighty for cataract surgery.

I had my eyes done around 5 years ago. I went with the multi focal IOL’s. I also had mono vision done (one eye focused closer that the other which is great for Pool). I have 20/20 vision and never need reading glasses. Star bursts were an issue for the first year. My doc says the my results were in the top 1% and that others aren’t so lucky.

I would make sure you go with a top eye doc and go with the lenses that he recommends.

i got the "basic" lenses implanted about two years ago , 20/400 in one eye and 20/300 in the other and the eye with 20/400 vision eye has a grade 3 astigmatism

after the procedure i have 20/30 vision in one eye and 20/35 which still has the astigmatism which is fine for playing pool, enables me to see the edges at distance

price wasn't a factor

a friend got the level 3 (most expensive) procedure which features bifocal lenses and his are great for driving, however, not so good for playing pool because he can't control which section of the lens he's trying to use because his head position isn't a constant

My close vision isn't great, had to pick up reading glasses with the weakest corrective level to read normal print
 
My lenses were replaced with standard IOLs 2 years ago. I had a mild astigmatism and could have gone with toric lenses. As it turns out, the standard lenses are working fine. I use reader glasses for reading and close-in work. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have been driving before the lens replacements.

I got the mid-price option.

I'm like you. 20/20 vision in both eyes now, good on mid-to-long range shots but kind of blurry at close range. Sometimes I graze balls I (in my mind) think I'm going to clear.

Still, I'm glad I didn't pay the extra 2 grand per eye just to improve my pool game. At my age (67 when I had the surgeries), I knew at that time that my pool skills were already diminishing.

If you are young, take pool seriously, and can afford it, go the extra mile and get the full monte!
