Anyone here prefer heavy cue? (20 oz or higher)

Anywhere between 19.5 and 20 is perfect for me. Has to have that forward balance though. I play mainly on fast cloth.

I've always preferred a heavier cue because I think I can feel my arm better if that makes any sense.

I had an 18.5 oz with the arm feeling problem.

Dennis Searing likes 20oz cue. Just recently I'm starting to play with a 20oz cue too.

My player range from 17.8 oz.-19.1 oz. I want the 19.1 lighter. My personal preference is 18.5-18.75 oz. But like a rather heavy shafts 3.8-4.1 oz..

efren's old cue (the $23 cue) that he won everything with was like 23 oz's. In an Accu-stat's commentary Johnny Archer said he hit balls with it, and the cue was like a tank.

I played 14.1 with an old 17.5 Viking. I used a 21oz Duffren for Caroms, and a 18.5 Joss for 8&9-ball. Johnnyt

i was subbing for a local team last tuesday.

i lost the toss,he broke,i ran out.
i go to break with my dufferin when this guy from the team hands me this old war club to break with.here try this he says.it was an old mcdermott.

the instant i touched it it felt right.

my lucasi is 20oz. but it's weight is different feeling from this cue.the mcdermott carried it in the butt section,you could feel the weight.it also had a smaller dia. shaft,so in some ways i was thinking it wouldn't break well because small shaft and too heavy.

playing 8 ball i break from the middle of the table using a tip over center hit.it crushed the rack,drew the cue ball back mid table.

now i thinking about getting an old d series mcdermott to try out.

20 oz + for me. The lighter cues just don't feel good to me.

all my shooting cues are 21 oz. but my next cue will probably be either 20-20.5 oz. i just like heavy cues cause i have a lose grip so to me it gives me a better balance.

20 ozs. and up for me ...

The last cue Alex Brick made for me weighs in at 22.5 ozs. and 60" ... It plays fantastic for ALL games ... A few years back I owned a Custom Palmer #11 which (supposedly) belonged to a famous Pro Player (now deceased) and it weighed a massive 26.9 ozs. (no weight bolt) ... After a few minutes of play, it felt about the same as any other heavy cue I owned ... I was taught, and still believe, that the subtle differences in weight are more of a "mental" thing ... If you "believe" a heavy cue suits you best, then it does ... The same goes for "Hit", very subjective and mostly mental in my humble opinion ...

BTW - The Alex Brick is a beautiful tribute to Eugene Balner and very closely exacts a Palmer Model #20 ...

Gotta add that Guido Orlandi and I have been great friends for many years ... When we get together at a Tournament, we talk for hours at a time about Cues ... He's a great guy and makes some really fine cues, when he has the time ...

Keith McCready uses a Jack Madden custom-made cue which weighs more than 20 ounces.

I was told by Keith that it has something to do with the forward balance in the cue, where he likes the balance spot to be. He also likes his shafts to weigh at least 4 ounces or more, which is heavier than standard shaft weights.

Also, I think the heavier cue complements his side-armed stroke, where the balance is in the butt of the cue.

Same here Jennie. I actually like the shaft in the 4.4 to 4.6oz range with a total weight around 20.3 +-.
