Jim Harris was a guy who used to play out of the pool room here when I was younger.

Pretty decent player. He moved to Texas around 10 years ago and I have never heard anything about him since.

Anyone know him or know if he's still playing?

He used to fire a shot at all the road players that would come through here in the mid 90's.

If I'm not mistaken he beat Stevie Moore out of a $500 set when he came through here on the hustle back then. So Jim was and maybe still is a decent player if he's still around.

I was young and around 12 but still remember it a little. Stevie came in wearing big thick glasses and dressed down. Glasses came off when the action went down.

If you know Stevie ask him if he remembers coming through the Pensacola/Fort Walton area on this move.

There was a player I knew named Jimmy "the Worm" Harris. He was originally out of Florida and later moved to Santa Barbara, California. I haven't seen him in nearly 15 years, so he would be in his mid to late fifties now. Same guy?

Could be.. Jim used to live here in Florida, Pensacola area.. Would be around the 50's mark.. Never heard of him as the "worm" though.

Did he wear glasses? May have went to contacts but had glasses when he was here.

Kind of tall.. Short dark curly hair.

Different guy. The Worm was short and would've had trouble getting by Stevie. In his day he was quite a player. I'd like to find out what happened to him. Older Floridians would've remembered him, I'm sure.

Jim Harris I remember Him, he was the best 5 dollar a game player any one ever saw!

Tommy Kennedy was at the Glass City Open about 4 years ago and vouched for how good Jim played and Steve Cook always told us Jim knocked off some pretty good tourneys and players when both of them lived in Florida. Sounds like the same guy.

Scott Lee was right I still live in Lima.

Jim still hits em good when he wants to. There isn't much going on around here. He plays in a local 8 ball tournament and a dollar on the 9 ring game.
He doesn't play much more than that. Mostly he just helps his wife out at the nail salon.

Guess that's what happens..

He used to be in the pool room here everyday at 3pm when they opened and would play about 5 hours..

He was a monster $5 a game player. :p

Please please tell Jimmy I say HI! We go back a long ways. Ask him if he remembers when I snuck Jimmy Reid in on him in Ventura. And when we hooked up in Florida, I was running with Louie Roberts.

Jimmy is a great guy and always kept me laughing. Reminded me of the Gump, Steve Gumphries, with that big shit eating grin he always had plastered on his mug.

By the way, Junior Harris is another guy, originally out of Colorado. He is much taller than Jimmy who is about my height.

Now I'm confused. Nine Ball described Jimmy as tall. You say he is your height. The Jimmy I know is about 5'7" and should be in his late '50's. He also always had that shit-eatin grin you mention. He showed up on the Southern California scene at about 1986 or '87, living with a friend in Huntington Beach. I last saw him in Santa Barbara when I was on the road, about 15 years ago. Are we talking about the same guy??

Jay I think were talking about two different Jim's. The Jim Harris I know is at least 6 foot tall.

Jimmy Harris I knew an played years ago was left handed an from Florida an a good player. He was not a big guy maybe 5-9 or 5 -10. We played in Lexington Ky for over 20 hrs straight. I miss those days.

Jim Harris is TALL and LANKY, when he shoots pool he usually has his bridge arm lying flat on the table, I believe he used to wear glasses. Seemed very reserved and didnt usually turn down a cheap game. He played his heart out, very, very, very solid player. I am 6 ft tall he was taller than me. So all of you who know anyone under that it is NOT the same guy, maybe same name though. Junior Harris is not the same guy, but he has been to starcade billiards before if I remember correctly. Jim Harris was a very deliberate and methodic player, not neccessarily slow but in no hurry either. If you could beat him for 5 dollars a game you would have to be an A player with a solid game, he used to always play on starcades 9ft Gandys. Never saw him shoot on a barbox ever, even though he probably did and can.
 
Yes, Jim used to wear glasses.. You can't mistake him.. He has that curly short hair that not a lot of people have. Milk said the Jim Harris he knows used to live here and play out of Starcade..

That's obviously him..
