Every year I threaten to play more but can’t due to family and work.

I plan on retiring in a few months then it will be much easier to get some decent time at the table
And garden
And go see old friends
And be a Grandpa
And rebuild my fence
And work on my house
And work on the four houses my kids own
And build mini cues.
Oh Hell

No resolutions really but I’ve been playing in a few more small tournaments recently and finally got an established Fargo, so my goal now is to keep up the tournament play and try to get my Fargo up 80-100 points. Don’t have a real good concept of how long that will take but that’s going to be a focus for me in 2025.

After family duties have taken over during the last few years, I try to enter at least one tournament this year. Last year I played two, I think, but only with me being opportunist instead of making actual plans to play one. Probably making plans will actually ruin the entire plan anyway. Lol.

worst tip i ever tried.
when i was a kid i bought a box of them .... i never used one ... just took a few out of the box and noted how inconsistent they were ..... different thicknesses .... even the tips were thicker on one side than the other ..... no uniformity whatsoever from tip to tip ..

Yeah, I said I'd stop paying any attention to the stupidity of some of the posters on NPR. That worked until I woke up this morning. They don't bother me, I just feel sorry for the terminally deranged.

Pool resolutions have never worked for me. Too many things get in the way.

I decided to practice more a few months ago. Hasn't worked out too well.
Lately I've got family including a baby that loves to stand on my table and roll balls.
Any time I go to practice, she wants to play. Then there's timing practice vs nap time and family time.

But then I have to travel for work and nearly nobody in my territory has 3C tables. Sometimes I'll suck it up and just try to pocket balls for stroke practice. Frustrating, cause I'm also trying to pocket balls. I get good shape but the ball doesn't fall.... Oh Well

It's tough.

Today I had 3 hours to myself. I took it.

I have no goals other than be happy with my play.
Work in progress as usual.

I am feeling my stroke come back into place. Close but....

play more pool .... i have basically quit because there not really any places with 9ft tables ... have to drive 1.5 hour to play ...
Check out any fraternal orgs like Elks, Moose, VFW, etc. within a 30-minute drive from you and might likely have 8- and/or 9-footers in their billiards facility.

I joined all three when I moved into a veeeery rural area of Vermont (which then-had only two poolrooms in the entire state -- all more than two hours away from my new house. Found old timers in the frat orgs who loved Straight Pool as much as I did. The annual dues amounted to less than a buck a week for all the pool you wanted to play -- and in very congenial company who liked getting a few 14.1 suggestions from, and playing "the new guy".

Arnaldo ~ Hope this helps you or any "similarly-isolated" present or future players new to AZB.
