This weekend, we are going up to Lisa's (ridewiththewind) area and playing in their 3 person team tournament. I will be playing with my girlfriend Cindy and her boyfriend Eddie Mataya (no relation to Jimmy or Ewa) who hang out with all the local Filipinos. They both play pretty good. Eddie has the best break I have ever seen..especially for a little skinny guy that weighs 120 pounds...soaking wet!

So it is going to be a team format. Any thoughts as to strategy on how to place our players when the other teams could be all women, or all men?

I may not know any of the other local's skill levels, so matching everyone up may be a problem.

Also, any team dynamics that I should be aware of? We are all good friends without egos as far as the team thing, so it should be a fun time. I don't foresee any problems there.

I'm not sure what the format is or if we all play everyone on the other team, but it looks like the length of the races depend on the man/woman ratios.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

If it's scotch doubles type formet where you shoot your partners leave, you want to lead off with 2 players who have complimentary styles of play. The third person should be the player who can shoot from anywhere and/or is a good safety player. It's harder to play someone elses leave and keep pocketing balls, someone is going to get out of line, and the 3rd usually gets stuck with the crappy leave. It also seems like the third is the one who will end up on the receiving side of a safe from the other team. At least that's the way it seemed to work at the SBE pro-am event last march(? time flies).
Hope it helps. If it's not alternating shot format, then play the weakest player in the middle position.....That way you've a better chance of a good start and a strong finish.

That is an interesting supposition...scotch triples! Hmmm, could get really hairy; doubles is bad enough! I am thinking that each person will play another person on the other team individually until you reach your race quota. Maybe Lisa knows.
