I just bought a table, and it came with 3 sets of balls. I'm curious as to what exactly I have. Here are a few from one of the sets that is different from the others. I was wondering if anyone might recognize which brand/series.

Obviously, the numbers for the stripes are in the field. The underlines for the 6 and 9 are flat. That should eliminate a lot of possibilities. The balls have a somewhat translucent characteristic to them, making a black shadowing affect behind and around the numbers. The same thing goes for the colored striping.

Any guesses?

I had the same ,if not exactly, then a very similar set..

Those look to be " Brunswick heritage"

From pictures on the internet, Brunswick Heritage pocket balls have a curved underline below the 6 and the 9. They do have the numbers in the field for the stripes though.

I have a Brunswick Sport King that I bought from a small pool hall in 1968 & the balls that came with the table look just like those. I would say they are Brunswick.

The balls could be some of the non-dart Brunswick balls. These balls were made in the 1960's or early 1970's and the Phenolic used to make them was not near the same quality they use today. The color / staining is very typical of balls made during this time frame and it is very difficult if not impossible to completely remove.

These balls are not worth much as collectibles they are very very common. What I have done with them in the past was to cut them in half and sell them as pocket markers to the APA Players who come into my business.

I stand corrected these are a set of "vintage Aramith Bakelite pool balls"..

That does look like a match, the 9 with the flat underline is a dead ringer. I also found a bakelite ball set on ebay with the flat underline. But, there was another set with the curved underline.

Yea I seen the curve line as well, but the only balls I found with a translucent overlay ,and a straight line, is the vintage aramiths..

Lol @ "Tramp Steamer" he always has a witty reply ....

Being somewhat collectible would be great, but I really only care about getting a positive ID just to know what I have so I can choose what to keep/play with out of the 3 sets that came with the table.

That is two votes now for a Brunswick set, and one for an older aramith bakelite.

I appreciate all the posts so far.

One last bump in case anyone else thinks they recognize the specific brand/series.

Thanks.
