Anyone see this player in Vegas?

I talked to him and Jessica Frideres a little. I believe they are from the same area. At one point he had won every mini tournament that he entered. Very confident! There were some grumblings from others about kicking him out of the minis because he was at the semipro/pro level. He also said that he beat a 9 66-4. He is part of the reason that I only played in the 8-ball minis.

...That was probably Jamie Baraks at Chris's. He plays WAY stronger than Jamie Fenton, and I believe lives in the Quad Cities area. JB is Mark Wilson's son.

Scott, someone once told me Jamie Baraks lived in my neck of the woods years ago. More specifically in Orange Beach, AL. Do you know if that's true or not?

flex-I got a call sunday saying jamie pluta was at chris's looking for action and played in the tourney. he did not seem real interested in gambling with people his speed though! basically said he was looking for an easy game.

Jamie Fenton

It was probably Jamie Fenton for sure. One of his good buddies Brian Thompson made it to Nationals on a team called Rippin Felt or something like that so I'm sure he tagged along for the gambling.

Strong player for sure. I've played him a couple of times in tournaments. His stroke is ridiculous though. It works for him but I don't see how. I got the better of him the first time we played but he whooped me the second time

I was a Big Dog's last night playing in a tournament and Jamie was there. He got into an argument with someone at the bar and a fight just about broke out. Jamie's a heavy drinker.

He's sponsored by Diveney Cue's so I would consider him a pro. The shitty part is in the local tournaments around here with handicap systems, he only has to give me 1 game. It's all good though because he's a runout player. He might run 4 racks in a row on ya but if he doesn't get out, you get to play clean up and watch him get pissed.

He played Ga Young Kim a few sets when she came to Big Dog's. They played 3 sets for 1k and Ga Young won 2 sets. I wished I could have watch that!

Jessica is from Ft. Dodge. It's about an hour north of Des Moines.

Well, if that's true, the fellow in the picture I saw that was identified as Jamie Pluta sure has changed his looks.

From what I could see, the pic of Jamie Fenton looks pretty similar to the fellow the other night.

As for his speed, well, suffice it to say that one of the better 9 ball regulars at Chris's told me that fellow could give him the 7. In one of the 9 ball tournaments at Chris's, this regular broke and ran 6 racks of 9 ball in a row...

IMHO, the speed of the player in the tournament was totally apparent at a certain point, and it was awesome...

Flex.........That was Jamie Plutta for sure. A friend of mine knew that he was in town, and staying with a friend in Evanston. I had my friend call them and see if he wanted to play me some one pocket - they said they'd think about it and call back, but they never called back.

ps, no surprise that clueless Ron dogged the tournament handicapping of Plutta

If he beat a (9) 66 - 4, then he must have been an 8 because an 8 only needs to go to 65 versus a 9 going to 75.

That is an impressive win, no doubt about it. But those kind of games happen to even us mortals if we get some rolls. Now if he beats people like that consistently, I have no comparison...lol.

Nope. In the Vegas minis, they use a different system. The 9's go to 66. I know because I'm a 9 and played in a 9 ball mini. The idea is to move things along.

Yeah I know him. Man can he talk!! How was he doing ?

During a Mini he was playing a guy from Japan and was really cutting up with him and some guys watching. A ref asked him to keep it moving. He was laughing saying that he had never seen someone talk that much and play pool.
I just thought ... you have never seen Jason. Last couple of times I saw him that week in Vegas he was carrying a six pack around with him and
playing a ton.
