Anyone see this...

but I think some may have gotten a deal.

rlly?

This thing is a total shot in the dark. And aside from the phenolic, imho it does look rather newish (less than 10yrs.) The wrap, finish at the collars, joint pin, and ferrules look relatively clean but do have some obvious miles on them. Also, check out the bumper, I've NEVER seen one like that. Also worth noting, and possibly help ID'ing, the veneer/ring above and below the wrap.

I've been wrong before, so I am at least prepared to be it again ;)

Ebay

With a total of 35-bidders, most had to think it was a Southwest if you follow how Ebay sales have been going lately.
Much nicer cues by known cuemakers aren't going for $710 on Ebay these days and certainly aren't getting 35-bids.

There's some nice cues in the $700 range on AZ or nice cues that could be obtained for $700 or close that I would take over this cue any day.

This cue doesn't look that great to me, I don't like the black phenolic rings at the wrap, the wood doesn't look that nice, the veneer is ugly, the bumper is funky looking, and the cue needs to be refinished.

If this cue was posted on AZ for $400 how much interest would there have been, and typically when there is 35-bidders on an Ebay cue, somebody knows something.
Not in this case even if it was made by a well known cuemaker...JMO

Here's my take on the matter, FWIW.
One thing that is obvious is that it's not a SW and no one, including the seller, is making that claim. Let's not 'assume' any mis-representation. The seller is very careful to avoid this.
The 11 thread brass pin is used by hundreds of CMs, including imports.
The spacing of the vertical dashes in the ring-work is wrong for a SW and whatever veneers that were used in the points would have been also used in the ring-work.
IMHO, the cue is not that old. What is being suggested as 'the old brown phenolic' is actually dark mahogany phenolic that was introduced by Atlas Fibre within the last 3 yrs. That's the one and only thing that suggests to me that this cue isn't an import. The dark mahogany phenolic costs considerably more than the std. phenolics and it's not likely that you'll see it in mass-produced cues.

Many builders in this country build cues in the SW style.

I caught this auction at the very end and couldn't figure out all of the bidding...anyone know for sure who made this?
