Now I love pool, all kinds of of pool. I like the awful movies, I love to watch TV events, streamed events, live events. I own several cues, I'd always take time out to help someone if I could and if they asked me to. I own my own lathe and will usually do minor general repairs for free for anyone in need, I try to contribute in just about any way I can, and as more of a joke than anything else I've always talked about a line of clothing for the billiard player and included in that general line of thought I thought Nike should produce a line of footwear for the pool player, but really, I was just kidding...

Hey Guys,

The last thing an athlete does before he takes the field is to make sure his shoes are tied tight & right.

I tie mine tight when I'm ready to get serious. The pool stroke works from the ground up just like a golf or baseball or tennis swing.

Earl Strickland almost forfeited a match because he showed up in the 'wrong' shoes & had to go back to his room to change.

I have shoes or boots that I simply do not play my best pool if I am wearing them.

Now, I'm not saying these shoes are the right shoes, I did not even see a chalk holder on them,:wink: but shoes are important.

Back in the mid 1980's there were tennis shoes made for pool players.

One pair were blue and one pair were red. The one had little eight balls on it and the other had little nine balls all over.

I bought and used both pair. Wish I had them today. They were good collector pieces.

If you have any old Tavern News Papers from the 80's, they might be in there.:smile:
 
I like the anti-odor feature...you know, if your game stinks, change shoes.

Actually, shoes are important.
I was wearing new shoes on new carpet at a tournament and I couldn't drop
much on the break...took my shoes off and started breaking like King Kong.

The tour director emailed me to tell me of a new tour rule...gotta wear shoes:embarrassed2:

Those shoes look pretty good...never understood players wearing dress shoes.
 
The more pool products the better.
Personally I find a big difference in comfort depending on what shoes I wear for a session.
I have a pair of Born casual shoes that are the best for me.
 
Those shoes will look *****in' with a beat up old pair of sweat pants and an old over stretched and stained pool tournament tshirt!

And they look like you could run pretty good in them.....
...a real plus if you're firing air-barrels...
 
a poolplaying shoes thread....never seen one of these before :rolleyes:

do yourselves all a favor, go to this website, pick out a couple of pair in a style you like, and buy them.....have NEVER had a bad pair from them.

Earl won one of his US Opens in golf shoes (pre-beekeeper & javelin days), back when they had metal cleats. Apparently his round of golf took longer than expected and he had no time to go to his room and switch out.

I don't know what match/year that was, but I gathered it was the finals match. Anyone know? I wonder if it's youtubed... I'd expect some funny commentary like "uh oh, Earl just shanked that shot".
