Anyone tried the New OB Line of cues

I know they are a production cue and not custom, but they are american made and I love their shafts. Everyone I know has had great luck with their customer service. Just curious if anyone has hit with them yet. Seem like a decent price.

Yes. They are quality cues, very nice and well made for the money. You won't hate it if you buy one. OB continues to progress in quality and technology. Building their own line, not just the shafts, tells me that they want absolute control and liability of their product. I spoke with Royce for a while at the expo early this month & he explained to me all the improvements & forward steps they, as a company, are taking. Needless to say, I am impressed. They have a great thing going & seem well on their way to being the absolute finest production cue EVER made in America, if they aren't already there.

after seeing the new operation, i would have to say that it would be a little unfair to call them a production cue, The person responsible for the cues is basically a custom cue maker, not a guy loading parts into a machine. I was also able to witness the quality control in person, and i can tell you that the cues dont just come off the lathe and go into a shipping box, without a few people inspecting them.

I maybe mistaken but I thought JOSS made the OB butts for Royce.

Actually, you're both right and wrong.

Our J-Line is made by Joss. This is our original line of cues we've been selling for a couple of years.

Our OB-Line is new, and built here in our shop in Plano Texas. We've been working on the foundation of our cue line for quite some time and have finally achieved what we have been looking for. We have the ability to do some things most production cues don't really offer.

First we've developed a method of utilizing a full length core, but also being able to weight the cue more centrally. Most full length cored cues are weighted more towards the ends instead of the middle. Our new design allows us to "Centralize" more of the weight in the center of the cue. Basically this gives us the benefits of the full length core and the weighting of a more traditionally constructed cue with an A-joint bolt. Even though we don't have an A-joint bolt.

Second, our full length core enables us to do some very unique things. Our Straight Line Core construction is very unique in that it not only reduces the side to side stresses that lead to warping, but it also builds in forces that work to hold the cue straight. All these things lead to a cue that plays very well. It has a good balance with strong excellent feedback.

As for looks, not only do we use high quality woods, but we keep them matched. In other words, the birdseye in the forearm is the same piece as the birdseye in the butt sleeve which isn't that common in production cues. We have also incorporated our new ring design at A,B,C,D and E. The ring has 12 floating vertical silver stitches set in black phenolic.

From fancy sneaky petes to our exotic handled wrapless cues, the MSRP's range from $395 to $495, and that includes your choice of any of our performance cue shafts.

The demand has been a little more than we expected, and are currently back ordered. But we'll be catching up soon as we have plenty more cues in the pipeline.

You can see them on our website, http://www.obcues.com/

Thanks Royce, and congrats on the expansion of your line of products.

Stepping in to the market with Schon, Joss, Mcdermott ect, with a well made competitive priced cue deserves recognition.

Royce do you expect to launch a series with more decoration (inlays, points, etc....) on them?
I like the way the OB shafts play but these new cues look (forgive me for saying) "simple".

Absolutely!

I'm a firm believer of building the foundation first. Building cues right takes a little time.

Before starting OB Cues, I built one at a time or custom cues for years. The numbers were small, but I built some nice cues. Growing that experience into a line of production cues and keeping that one at a time custom type of quality isn't an easy task. Trust me, building cues one at a time and building enough to service the demand of our customer base are two completely different beasts.

We have plans already in place for many different designs and styles.
