At the risk of beating a dead horse:
BD: The players in Reno were initially told that the checks were, for lack of a better term, “lost in the mail.” Then a week or so later the story changed to the prize fund being impacted by the Ho deal. What was the truth?
KT: Two things happened. All the checks were written and sent. But the Fed Ex didn’t arrive, which was no big deal. We figured we’d simply sign them on Monday.....blah, blah, blah....
See, if you or I blame a given shipping company for screwing up, it really is no big deal. Individuals say things like "UPS was late - sorry", when in fact they shipped it later then they planned or promised. No biggie.
But when the President & Founder (Keven Trudeau) of a company (IPT) goes on the record (Billiards Digest) making the same claim, in a very visible, hi-profile situation, being watched and reviewed by millions worldwide, well, he better be stating the truth.
And since KT's lips were moving when he made that claim, it's a safe bet that it was a lie.
I know that UPS will pursue outrageous claims like this, as though it were LIBEL, or DEFAMATION OF <Business> CHARACTER.
So even though in another announcement, he stated that an IPT employee forgot to check the "Saturday Delivery Box", that's not what he just said to BD. And that other announcement was not public; it was in an email to only a few hundred people.
See, what KT essentially just told millions of readers is that "due to FedEx NOT DELIVERING ON TIME, my $3 Million worth of Payroll Checks were not given to my players when I said they would be."
The "second thing that happened" is irrevelant.
My guess is that FedEx will not appreciate this.
