Had a couple of friends that got banned from playing APA and no reason was given by League operator. League operator said he owned the league and could ban anybody and didn't have to give a reason.It definitly wasn' a skill level problem as neither are 7's. Has anyone ever heard of this?

There could be 100 reasons they were banned. Actually if they weren't a SL7 it could be they were sandbagging. With the information you have presented there is no way we can answer your question. Ask the LO.

Yes, I've heard of it, but like your league operator, I don't have to give a reason.
From now on I'm taking the easy way out.
I never thought of telling someone that I don't have to give a reason.
Now that I know you can get away with it, I will never give another reason for
anything I do or say.

This should of come up 40-50 years ago because my life would of
been much easier if I never had to answer for any of my actions.

Do they also play BCA or TAP or some other league?
Were they involved in a fight or otherwise "physical altercation" on a league night or during a match?
Did they gamble during a league match?
Did other teams or player complain about them?
Would you consider them to have been "pros" at some point?
Did they pork your LO and not call later?
Did the LO just not like them?
Any of those would likely result in a ban (at least in some APA areas)

LO wasn't to smart as league had over 50 teams when he bought it and now under 20..

I imagine it'd have to be a pretty good reason. It's money out of the LO's pocket and St. Louis, and they are definitely in the business to make money.

Given what you have described I would feel safe in saying that that APA area has no underlying structure, just the LO and that's about all. While it seems like the LO could have given a reason the simple fact is that the LO doesn't have to give any sort of reason if he doesn't want to, but honestly I would bet that these guys have some idea of why. Chances are they did something they knew the LO wouldn't like but wasn't a violation of any rules. As a captain years ago I felt our team wasn't be treated fairly so to make a point I once paid our league fees for the matches that night in change, no bills. Not a violation of any rules but our LO was so pissed at me I got suspended for a month. I wasn't told a thing about why, I was marked on the score sheet as suspended, I knew why.
The APA is really a monarchy. The LO is the royalty and the players are the peasants. They can treat us as they see fit and we really have no recourse, we either just sit and take it, or quit.
Every time someone starts one of these threads I can't tell you how fortunate I feel that we have the LO that we have. Back when I would feel like we were being shit on, in retrospect I must admit that it was all fair and I was just pissed, but that was many years ago. Since then I have learned that our LO is a really good business person and we the players are the customers. We may not like the results sometimes but we are always treated fairly, even when we think we aren't. I believe that most LO's operate this way. They might like us and we may be friendly or they they may think we're scum, but when they sit down to enter data they don't really see names, just anonymous numbers.

Here in town, when the apa started YEARS ago, the owner did the same, and we never hit a ball, having players that know allot about the game can cause problems/complainers.
Big egos of some league operators is inevitable, and Very important to some. Others, are fair and like family. What your seeing here happens across the board in life/work/play.
