Just had a few questions.

do they have one in Kalispell MT? if so when does it start?
who do i need to get in contact with to get on a team or make one?
how do you rank yourslef if you have never played in the APA? if someone wanted to know?

I am getting a job transfer to MT... pool is what keeps me sane.. so is there even a decent place to pay there. i have tried looking on the net for a hall but nothing comes up. they have everything else there i would think i could find one 9' table..

I am excited for the move and also excited to play in the APA. i would love to have a chance to go to vegas...

I just looked on the APA web site and it doesn't appear that they have a presence their, but I'm not certain I read the way their map works correctly.

I would contact them directly to get that answer.

You would start as an SL4 automatically, unless you specifically request to be started at a higher level. They adjust from there.

local tournaments and local bar league and some regional. only bar tables around. most players go to the cattlemans bar in the late morning or early afternoon weekdays, only a few though, has about eight tables. you can get some small action or real large if you play the right players.

I live right north of Montana in Canada. Most of Canada is north of Montana tho. Pretty big. I am 90 miles from Plentywood and thats kind of a small town. Be cool if they had a league there but I think my back yard is bigger than main street. I could drive to league. I know a bunch of crazies that drive 150 miles one way once a week to play league. Where there is a will, there is a way.

crazzy.

I didn't know you were that close to PLentywood or I would have told you about a tournament there this weekend. I believe it started Friday but maybe not til Saturday at the Blue Moon Bar south of town. It is a memorial tournament for the "owner" Radar and also for Mike Holte who both passed earlier this year. $1,000 added on bar tables. Might be worth checking in on just in case you can still get in.

The Blue Moon right across the street from the Golden Wheel. Nice hard wood dance floor and good food.

If you had have mentioned it earlier I would have drove down no problem.
Maybe next time around.

Have a Scotch tourney Sunday. Fort Peck is just a little south west isn't it?

Actually your "friend's" name is John Amelsberg, and he is the APA LO for Great Falls. He's had APA there for almost 30 years. It's the only 'going' APA franchise in MT. There used to be an APA league in Helena too, for several years. The LO owned a billiard supply business called Paper & Felt. I had APA in Bozeman and Billings for a while, but I sold my franchise in '94.

Yep, I was in Poplar which is about 90 miles southwest of Plentywood. I might end up there again in a few months but ... I have a lot to think about before making that decision.

Thanks Mike. Next time they have a tourney, give me a bit of warning and I will try my hardest to make it. I like that little town.

TR...No offense, I just wanted to get the spelling right, in case the OP wanted to track John down. Good to hear from you too. You still playing? Have you won the MT State tournament lately? My best to you and your family!
