Just read the thread on the conditions of tables, rails and such. I played on the Mini Mania tables in 8 different events (same as the Masters was played on) 6 matches on the Tables in main room and even on Dr. Cue''s table. For the most they were better than ok.

As to seating this needs improving, as does having to pay for play. HOWEVER, this is one big event and it ran pretty sweet with a bump or two.

BOY, getting Janet Lee as spokeswoman for APA was nothing less than GREAT. She is the bomb, exciting and very approachable, great for APA and pool.

As for Diamonds, I have not played on a one that the balls don't jump off the rails. The lights are great but guess what the APA lights are very good also, I was amazed. The reason I stopped playing Masters Division was putting up with several of the players that thought they were so great as soon as it didn't go their way they dropped out and left us the rest of us hanging. Now we have no Masters Division.

One other thing is out team received $8000 to get our team to Vegas and back. How does $8000 stack up with the your travel money???

My worst day of pool was better than my best day at work. Hope you don't have a JOB LIKE THIS.

How many players are in your local league? How much is the weekly cost? How many teams did your league send? What have Hubbert and Bell done to grow the sport professionally besides putting money in Jeanette's pocket?

The APA is great for pool in many ways... but it's unwillingness to support the game at the professional level is unforgivable to many people....

Dunno what diamonds you have been playing on, but I have never had a problem keeping the balls on the table. IMO a bad Diamond is better than a good valley any day of the week.

Sorry but you must have missed the tens of thousands of APA sponsorship dollars that have been put in to the WPBA the past few years. Just becuase they don't sponor the men, does not mean they do not support the game at the professional level.

The Renfro...I like and respect your posts, and you clearly have a good grasp on how to play. That said, this is a ridiculous statement. With the exception of one year, when Terry & Larry tried to align the APA with Don Mackey's pros (which did not work out), the APA has never been about "growing" the men's professional side of pool. The APA was never created with that intention, and to think otherwise is, imo, ludicrous and absurd. Another fact...the VNEA, the BCAPL, the ACS or TAP leagues were not created with the intent of having any idea of growing pro pool either. The lone example is Mark Griffin's newest league, the USAPL, which clearly states that part of the money goes to fund professional pool. So, instead of singling out the APA, you'd be better off ranting at ALL the amateur league organizations.

All Diamond rails jump the ball off the rail. I have never seen one that dosn't.

I will admit, I enjoy playing on a 9 foot Diamond.

All Diamond Tables do not jump the ball's of the table! I play on 25 different Diamond tables and have never jumped a ball off a rail. Every Diamond table I have ever played on has had that problem either. Someone has messed up your tables or you're hitting them way to hard.

I don't think he means jumping balls OFF the table....but off the playing surface, or hops a little off the rail. I too, have not noticed this. I'll check it out next week (playing on Diamonds for a tourney).

You mean hops like the rail was to high or low. Never had any issues with any Diamonds other than its to hard to pocket a ball. I haven't had a ball hop a rail since the glue seperated for my friends rail and it dropped.

that's how I took it anyway....hopping off the rail. I've not had that happen on the ones I play on either.

This is not all together true, at least not in the past anyway and when you look at things you really can't blame them. When they had a league that was designed to help support and promote the professional tour the organization folded few years after it started.

So then the Founders Larry Hubbart / Terry Bell started the APA and they grew that organization into a National Organization, so I quess my question to you is what does the APA, BCA, or any other league Owe the Proffesional Tour?

Respectfully

in every league thread it comes up - what's the OBSESSION with what a league takes in monetarily? WHO CARES?! Nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head to play in ANY league that I know of....WOW!

OOOPS, posted in the wrong APA Nationals thread....sorry

You are correct Scott and had this been a VNEA, BCAPL, ACS or TAP thread I would have likely responded in a similar manner. I also am unforgiving of Brunswick and other members of the industry that make money off of the billiard subculture and do not support the Professional game.... It is their money to spend as they see fit so I am in no position to tell them where to spend it.

All I can do is decide how to spend MY money... Capitalism is similar to Democracy but you vote with your dollars... I will buy a Diamond before a Brunswick... I will play in the USAPL when it comes to my area.... I would buy a Predator or Mezz product at this point in time over any other production cue.... I carry the London Bridge....

My statement was that lots of people do not forgive the orphaning of the men's professional game.... I know much of the onus lies with the players. I'll get up on my soapbox about some of the stuff they pulled as well if a thread pops up =)
