APA Profit

If you want ot make money playing pool (payback to your team at the end of the season) than quit playing in leagues... Practice and then do head to head matches for whatever you want. Nothing beats walking into a place with $40 bucks and leaving with $400

How dare you! I play once a week and it is in my APA league, usually have 4 to 5 cocktails when I am there, make everyone wait for me to come back inside from smoking weed with my team buddies to play my match, haven't run more than 5 balls in several years, but KNOW FOR A FACT that not only should I make back every cent I have put into playing in the league, they should be paying out more to me! It's not like the LO does anything anyways except collect my money, take my money home to his enormous house, pour it all into one of his huge bathtubs, and swim around in it.

LOL! What HE said! I find it funny that 98+% of APA league members could care less about paybacks (it's only 90% in the 'other' leagues), but the very vocal minority here think league play should be ALL about the payback...NOT! Once again...if you don't like the way it works, don't play...or better yet, start your own league. You'll find out in a hurry exactly how much a league operator's "net earnings" are.

League operator

The league operator is left with approximately $ 12.00 per team after all expenses

League Operator profit

It varies by area and League operator to be honest. Its no different than other business models like it...........each one can vary on service, costs and based on its size, profits.

I can tell you that an average size league if run well takes time and much patience. Many league operators have to hold other jobs unless they have a large area and thats because its not a high paying job in most cases but there is the potential. Its all what the league operator puts into it and if the area is limited.

You received some answers that were unclear or were wrong.

No part of the membership fee is kept by league operators.
There is no set $12 per team the league operator keeps after all expenses....it truly varies by location, league operator and expenses needed to run the league and all areas require something different. For most that may be the number prior to expense for the league such as fuel, office supplies, stamps, envemopes, liability insurance, office space if any, utilities such as phone, internet etc plus other standard expenses.

The 20% someone noted being sent to the APA is close enough but not always the case.

If you have a good league operator, the work would be done well and there would be extras like tournaments with added money etc. All this takes time and work so in the end can the larger league area make a lot of money? Certainly if they are run properly but, remember, the more they take in the more the expenses are and the more work they have to do.

It isnt so much no one wanting to answer as it is probably that it varies so much from area to area that there is no one answer.

A LO operator near us said that it was all said and done that she makes about $5 an hour... i wanted to ask her how she then afforded the new house and the new building outside it with just a pool table ( yes this is her full time job ) but decided against such retardedness

She's not working 8 hour days...

The hours and math are not the same as working a 9 - 5 job. For ventures of this type the proper figure is most likely... $5 an hour X 20 hours a day = $100 per day X 5 days per week = $500 per week X 50 weeks per year = $25,000 per year.

20 hours per day you are probably thinking no way... But as a new promoter let me tell you I can not believe how much of my time is consumed by tour business, thoughts, ideas etc. etc. When you are the one responsible for everything you do not punch in and out at set hours.

Many do not realize what goes on behind the scenes to make a one night league or a two day tournament go off smoothly on a continuous basis. Let's just say it has been an awakening process for many who have tried.

Let's keep this in mind and try to appreciate all they do to make our nights out happen for us.
