APA Rackless Night Patches

Patches may be laughable to the devoted/serious players you'll find on AZB, but I can assure you that the typical APA player really does care about them.

A slight clarification from this somewhat devoted APA player...

I don't much care about the patch itself, but winning one is kinda cool.

Yes, I'm a beginner, and accomplishing what it takes to win one of these patches is childs play to the majority of posters here. (At least to what they'll admit, heh.) And I don't think you'll have to worry about seeing any of those patches ever displayed on anything I would wear. To tell the truth, I only recall seeing one or two people wearing anything with one of those patches on them in over a year. And they were from a different part of the state than me, none of the people in our league sport any of that stuff. The couple that I have are in a drawer somewhere.

It is the accomplishment that's important, as slight as that may be to the more experienced player.

Rackless patches

the apa division i play in has never awarded these patches. it has been recently sold and the new owner decided to start giving them out...or at least he has them in his possesion. myself and another player on my team have done this recently on different nights. however, the LO stated that in order to recieve the patch, the whole team has to have a rackless night . i knpow this cant possibly be the case in other states and divisions, right?

There are rackless night patches for the individual and there is a rackless match patch for the team when none of the five has to rack a game.

Your guy may have the rackless match patches and would be correct.
If it is the other one it should be given out on an individual basis.
Have fun

jrt30004....that was pretty funny. I like how you think. I love it when I beat younger guys (I'm 60) and they have that pout/shocked face on. How sweet would that be if I had one of those tee shirts too!

Patches....patches....we don't got no stinkin' patches....

My league operator not only doesn't give out patches...he has a web site that he has not updated since the winter. So you can get the schedule for February, but if you need to find out where you are playing this week, you are SOL. Same goes for standings. In fact, he still has the "MVP's from 2005" prominently posted. I guess he is still working on 2006 forward. But every week....he gets my $8.....

Ah....the good old APA. I still have 11 more years until my twins go to college, so I guess I'll still be playing....

bob

i also enjoy the jackasses who get beat by a girl and come up with every excuse in the book. my girlfriend isn't a pro but she can play pretty well. she's run a rack or two when she's really on. i take her to a few handicapped tournaments and god help her if she beats up on a guy. the table is slow, the balls are dirty, there's a bunch of funny rolls, my tip is on crooked the spot is too much to fade (he's going to 5 and she's going to 3). it never stops. but never do they say she played well. and those are the times i really love tellin 'em we both play in the apa. that sends 'em off the freakin' deep end.

Dayum, some people must have some REALLY cool looking denim jackets in your area.

Nah thats when we play out in the city, out where I live we just have patches like "Toothless" "Trailerless" Truckless" and "I Beat Bubba"

I have a "Sandbagging Patch", it's two sandbags hanging off a palm tree.

I would suggest coming up with a design for that and pattening it. You just might have something there.

If rackless nights aren't followed up by some money then what are they worth? The APA is a milk machine, I'd rather travel around to tournaments or match up. I just finished my last session and will never play in it again, all I hear is money, money, money, split your team and start your own. I kinda thought it would be a little fun but the APA politics are baloney. Hell I hear that the owner calls players/customers up and threatens them about sandbaggin, WTF! Maybe it's better else where but I see no clear benefit.

i really dont care much about the patches myself. however, i do have a 5 on my team that when he gets a patch one night and i dont, he makes it known. he also counts them and keeps them in a 3 dimentional glass frame on his wall. i dont count mine or care for that matter, but respond with "i have way too many to count, i just weigh them" when he says something.

Wow. That took quite a while for the first true APA-bashing post in this thread. I am somewhat disappointed in ALL of you.

Mike...BTW is IS nice to hear of an LO actually calling and making threats about sandbagging! Good on him!

Not when he isn't sandbaggin! not when he's ranked a 7 and not going down and has a reasonably good win%. I know some LO's are looking for ways to split teams by raising players pre-maturely. I have heard it goes through the computer bla bla and have also seen first hand a LO bump two guys up on a team during city playoffs that could not play the speed they were bumped to, known them for years. You know as well as I do a dirty ass LO can manipulate #'s in playoffs for favoring teams. It is something that should grow naturally, Many teams/members around here aren't liking it either. Maybe it's better in your neck of the woods. When a TC tells you to ditch a game so you won't move up! WTH is that about? I wouldn't drop a game for crap..ya beat me ya beat me...I'll tell you what it's about #'s and it's baloney. I've been accused of it with an undefeated season (not from the LO) just others and I play to win whether I run out or have to beat them around until finishing time. What's the prize? Vegas! heck I can go there anytime. Like I said maybe it's better elsewhere.
