How hard is it to make it to vegas on a team from you area, and how many teams does your area send?

7 teams go from the state of Maine. (not counting the various singles, doubles, etc.) That's four for 8-ball and three for 9-ball.
To be one of those four in 8-ball, we had to be one of the top three for our session (14 teams), be one of the top four teams in that sessions Tri-Cup qualifier for the northern half of the state (don't know the total number, 32 teams I believe), and then be one of the top four at states (another 32 teams, if I remember correctly). Something close to those numbers, in any event.
As for how hard it is to be one of those, I'm not sure I can answer that accurately. I know my team was one game at states (mine, dammit) in the second round, and one more round from going. I don't know that we're world beaters, but we had a shot.
Damn sure looking to be there next year. Or getting to the states, at the very least.

our area wasn't too rough 7 teams in the 9ball city tournament, winner went and 13 teams in 8ball city tournament winner went and scotch doubles 7 teams winner went. cya in vegas :wink:
For the county that I play in, in Texas, we have approximately 70 teams and I believe we send (2) 8 ball, (1) 9 ball and (1) Masters.
Having played in Terry Justice's league for several years I think I can safely say it is much easier to get to vegas here in Texas than it was in Maryland when I played.
I have come much closer in Texas than I ever did in Maryland in both of the years that I have played here and I had a much stronger team in MD.
Depends on where you are from and how many teams are in your division. You can take a decent team from a small town where the 7s play like 4s in a big city and they will go to Vegas and go two and out and not know what the hell hit them. Handicapping in the APA is a total joke and the only way to get the upper hand is to lose for a long time and hope you get a good draw if you make it to a big tournament. People will say its fair and that sandbagging is wrong and they are only half right. Its not fair and even though sandbagging is frowned upon it is basically the only way for some teams to have a chance. If I have seen it once I have seen it thousands of times, every team I know has people that do it and when it gets delt to them they are pissed off. It's just like the old saying " it's like the pot calling the kettle black ". If you are planning on going to Vegas to play I wish you the best of luck.

I missed this following the Dippy thread...lol.
Must be either out of the Green Room or Red Rooster...lol. That is an amazing number of teams out of one place, but I would guess it is the green room, which probably has the most teams that play in one spot.
