App for counting and scoring

Hi folks - Apologies if this is not the right forum for this. I've seen a few threads talking about keeping score of games and such and thought I'd just put this out there.

I have made a couple iPhone apps in my spare time and one of them is an iPhone/iPod and Apple Watch app called CountAndScore. You can read more and see a somewhat longwinded demo at www.countandscore.com

It's perfect for keeping track of all of your pool related numbers, milestones and goals. You can score games or sets, count your run outs, keep track of your drill numbers quickly and easily. It keeps the history and generates simple charts and scorecards so you can not only tell what your high run was, but WHEN it was and stuff like that. Export it all to excel if you wish. It's .99, with no ads or in app purchases.

In addition, the screen will stay on without a power cord - and you can even set it so that it will read your counts aloud and you can just 'shake' your phone to change your counters without ever looking at the phone. If you have an Apple Watch no need to even open the phone app.

Take a look - I'd love to know what you think and again, please feel free to kill this thread if it's inappropriate. www.countandscore.com

Thanks - b

Hey, Willy. These always worked. :)

So did these ;)

Seriously though, the app is useful for keeping track of drills, run outs and other stuff... I'm not making any real money off it, but I think it might be useful to others...

Thank you for sharing your app. It is very simple to use and well designed. I could see using this to track all kinds of things, and having it on the watch is well worth $0.99.

A good application for the app would be to count bad habits. Merely counting the number of times you do something bad will help you quit.

I am hoping that I am not using it right, but all I see is just a counter? There are tons of free apps spec to pool that do just fine. I wasted my money I believe:frown:

Eddie - are you sure you downloaded the right app? At it's core it's a set of counters and groups of counters, it's all of the other features that set it apart. Did you take a look at www.countandscore.com and is that the app you downloaded? The demo video there shows all of the stuff it can do and how to do it.

PM me about and I'm happy to discuss, or even tell you how to request a refund - but your comment is strange to me because while there are tons of simple, single counters this is definitely not my app.

Yep I downloaded the correct one...and I havent seen anything that makes it better than the free counters. I am not being mean but the others are more specific to pool. I was hoping you could track balls made per game to track when playing the ghost, but you would have to make a counter for each game?

Very nice app.
Thanks for telling us about it.
Now just make it compatible with Android.

Eddie - I meant the one you were describing. I wouldn't describe it as just a counter, but I certainly don't think you are being mean, although it could have been done without the gigantic red letters. The site I linked to and the video do a good job of showing what it is and would have set the right expectations before you purchased.

I'll PM you with how to email Apple and get the .99 cents back, sorry it didn't meet your needs - I hope others will still take a look for themselves.

Thanks,

b

Like I said, I hope I am using it wrong. Can you show me how you use it for pool? If I was playing straight pool by myself I could see the counter working, but playing someone else there would have to be 2 counters right? Can you screen shot it so I can see it?

Happy to - I just faked a game of straight pool between us, you beat me badly...

I'll add a few screenshots of the app - and here is what they show:

1) For a game, setup a new group of counters, then within that one for each player. I also set the 'goal' to 250 since that's what we were playing to.

For keeping track of things like your runouts or whatever, just make a single counter.
(see top row)

2) When you are looking at your straight pool game group you can view the scorecards for the players that show all the detail. You can also see a simple chart that visualizes the scores over time.

I hope this helps - also sent you a PM on how to get a refund if you wish, you can keep the app.

Happy to hear it Eddie...

If anyone did / does download the app - please let me know what you think, or if there are simple things that could be changed to make it more usable for your purposes. If you looked at this thread, maybe you are interested in apps - if you have an idea let's talk about it.

Also, if you enjoy it please leave a review / rating in the app store - it's the only way an indie developer like me has even a sliver of hope of selling a few copies.
