Appleton -Ko

Exciting play here from Darren and Ko! I would love to play on these tables! They look super tough...

Ko had a stripe blue (don't know the number) at far corner clustered with 2 solids :D
 
If Ko used his head he's have won this. Way too many overly aggressive mistakes cost him. Still a great way to start your day. Next airtime is 9pm Eastern. Hope the stream is smoother than this morning.

Yup, 9pm today and then 6am tomorrow (EDT). If we get another 4-hour match tonight, that's going to make for a short sleep!

unfortunately didn't get to see most of the match

was it poor decisions with safeties?

the defensive options in this game are numerous and not nearly as straight forward as american 8 ball, , I was surprised to see Judd trump make some amazing defensive decisions on the fly

ultimately this is most definetley a "specialist" game, the guys with experience are just dominating

It was Ko's match to lose in the last stage. There were quite a few relatively easy run outs that he butchered. His style has always been quite aggressive and risk taking which makes him one of most exciting players to watch but maybe not that suitable for C8B

Experience won it for Darren. Kudos to him for keeping his cool and withstanding the onslaught from Ko and wait for Ko to make mistakes and punce. Darren's few mistakes in middle of match almost proved to be costly. This 4 hour matched may take its toll on him in his upcoming quarterfinal match vs the experienced Chu Bingje about 7 hrs from now. Last 8 is guaranteed i$8K which is not too shabby but everyone wants $100K:D
