Top Players

At the urging of several, I let Ralph Cortez play in the tournament this month as his health has kept him from playing at the level he once played. Well I don't see that his game has suffered much. Maybe his endurance a bit. Ralph Cortez aka. "Fat Ralph" snapped of the tournament this month in his one and only appearance in Waco.

The side pots worked pretty well, though weaker than our previous players meeting totals.

Tournament:

1st - $750.00 Ralph Cortez
2nd - $375.00 Bill Fuller
3rd - $200.00 Chris Morris
4th - $115.00 Rody "Pancho" Andres
5-6th - $70/$70 Mike Rountree/Jon Rawlins

$20 Side Pot:

1st - $250.00 Ralph Cortez
2nd - $125.00 Bill Fuller
3rd - $80.00 Rody "Pancho" Andres
4th - $60.00 Mike Rountree/Jon Rawlins

$50 Side Pot:

1st - $300.00 Jon Rawlins
2nd - $150.00 Benny Scott

as someone mentioned Ralph shot really well but his endurance wasnt what it was at one time........ i know the thing you said about the defibulator was a joke but i was beginning to sweat it watching Ralph play the last set....... as a medical professional ( or so im told thats what i am )i had my doubts as to whether he was going to make it or not and i also heard son was trying to get him to just drop out and forfeit. whether or not Ralph should have been allowed to play in the tournament can be argued. but one thing that cant be argued is that that man has HEART! he may not have been an underdog in ability, but he does have some health issues and in a tournament with few and short breaks between matches, not being in the medical field it would be easy to confuse him as just being tired.........while in reality he was struggling..... a lot........ in my own humble opinion he deserved every penny. So ........Ralph, CONGRADULATIONS!!!......between playing well.....your determination.......and an unwillingness to give up that we can all learn from and i myself greatly respect, it was a pleasure to watch you play.. secondly, im happy you won........and first, im glad that i didnt have to give you mouth to mouth!!! i wish you good luck in the future in your health and your game.

Ralph snaps one off from the losers bracket and he's immediatly DQ'd lol

Ralph had a top finish in a major tournament and has never been qualified to play in this tournament. I made a judgment call to let him play based on input from the council and others.

I'm glad Ralph got to win one. I don't think he has many more in him. I don't regret letting him play at all.
