Aramith Action Room Derby City Classic 2018 Updates

Bellande is a tough act to follow.

Although its crazy how high those guys bet, watching their matches is boring for me. Neither are great players and couple that with a very tight table and you have something tough to watch. I must not be the minority as the action room was not nearly as crowded for their matches as any of the previous games with top players.

Heck, there was a bigger crowd for Durbin playing 1k sets last night. For me that was way more fun than the poker guys playing. Now it is exciting to see a top player give one of these guys a huge spot. Fun to see if the pro can take the heat betting that much and having to play perfect pool.

(just to be clear, I'm not suggesting I can beat any player mentioned in this post, I am at the derby to see great pool and gambling, not just gambling)

Lots of action going on, mostly in the old action room.

some matches with notables I have seen outside of big trucks room:

Tony Watson vs Ed
Shane winters vs joey gray
durbin vs tyler
durbin vs Alex O
Tony Watson vs Tyler
Hunter vs Sam
Hunter vs Sergio

Fun to see Tony and Eric back in action. Reminds me of the exec west days.

Why would you say that and where is your proof?

Not cool!
Jason

Relax, Jason. Nobody accused anything, it's just a (common for pool) question.

Chances are zero. Eric, if you walked up to JRB with a proposition to cut someone up for big $. He would say "Get to hell away from me you f.....ing idiot."

Thanks for clarifying, Wayne. It was a little curious when the situation appeared to be two pokers players putting Kirkus in the middle. Of course, I could be completely off base, too.

Probably the same as Gryphon Asset Management being a ponzi scheme.

Stay classy, Eric.

Uh huh. Taking a stalker-ish,personal potshot from behind an anonymous screenname, on something that does not involve you... That's classy?

Eric

Two guys were playing a kind of 9 ball but it looked like they had to bank the 9, and they were banking other balls earlier in the rack...does anybody know the rules of their game? Looked pretty interesting.

We have league Sunday, stop fighting with people and practice up please! You're gonna get tired of having to carry me from my losses this session, save the energy!

That sounds like back pocket 9 ball

Ronnie Wiseman was playing Russian Kenny

Players each have a pocket they can make the 9 ball in to win on opposite ends of the table.

Rules vary how they play it

That's the same game John Hennigan the poker player trapped Dennis Orcollo playing a few years ago in the action room for about 40k lol

Lol. I don't look for them, they find me.

I think I'm gonna have to do Derby next year.

PoolActionTV will be broadcasting the Hall of Fame Ceremony, catch it on Facebook LIVE starting around 6:30 pm Eastern. I will post a link as soon as it goes live.

Jeremy Jones is being inducted into the One Pocket Hall of Fame and Keith McCready is getting a lifetime achievement award.

We have action pending trying to get it worked out tonight too, Morra vs Kiamco 10-ball rotation and Filler vs Gomez same thing.

Stay tuned for more details soon.

Terry, sometimes they were banking other balls too...how does that work in this game?

I didn't see the stream, but my buddy texted me and told me to turn it on because he and another guy I know were apparently on the stream. He likes to play a version of 9 ball where you have to bank at least one ball to win the rack. You can bank it at any time during the rack. Pretty sure you saw "Purple Tony" and Clay Rhinehart, a good local onepocket player (undefeated through round 7 in the onehole). Clay also won the KY state 8 ball championship a couple months ago.

Cheers,

JL

Thanks JL. I didn't recognize the players, one white, one black. I can't remember if I ever saw anyone bank more than one ball per game, and it may be that when they got down to the 9, one guy had to bank it and not the other guy. That does sound like a great trap game!

Yep, that's them for sure.

You were outta line, period! I'm not the only one that thought that.

I've seen JRB adjust in the MIDDLE of a set cause he thought the spot was unfair TO THE OTHER PLAYER!

Not everybody is like you
