Aramith Red Circle

Red Circle... check!

The Red Circle is still my favorite... I have two, and carry one in my case.. I have a couple of One Pocket guys I play with that swear by it! No Measles here, thank you...love playing a Red Circle with Centennials.. the nuts.

I actually don't mind the Measles too much for 9 and 10 ball, IF it's a real Measles.. there's tons of cheap ones, that are too light.

I wouldn't use a measle ball to play *tiddly-winks*!

I now have 3 Blue Circles ( 1 brand new, 2 just like brand new ) and 1 Red Circle and will almost certainly get another Red Circle soon. I may never play another Aramith Super Pro again!

On the subject of knock off measle cue balls, the average price for aramith
brand seems to be about $36 .Found a knock off for $4.83.depending on your room owner, you may have some sprinkled in among ball sets.I know we do.lol
I'm sorry, but as a room owner, particularly in regards to owners that are players, I really doubt they'd skimp on something as important as the cue balls used and try to slip in knock-off measle balls on their regulars.

Much more likely, in my opinion, that someone playing in the room that happens to notice a nice fairly new measle ball might switch it out with a knock-off one they just happen to have with them, just so they'll have one that is the real thing.

Michael, your quest for cue ball nirvana is not quite over. Blue Circles, Red Circles, Measles, Super Armamith, they're all great. But, you absolutely must get a Red Dash cue ball. You'll have to hunt, as they haven't been made in decades. But, it's a perfect cue ball. Doesn't pick up chalk like the Blue Circle, Measle, and Super Aramith. Doesn't have that off-putting translucent look to some, of the Red Circle. Perfect size and weight, if in good shape. Draws well, gets around the table in the most predictable manner. You must get one. It will take a bit of search. I think the formula had a bit of Bakelite in it, due to its superiority in cue balls. Hunt, man, hunt! Here's mine. No, it's not for sale.

All the best,
WW

WW - Thank you, sir, and I will most certainly see what I can find. If you run across one, please let me know. I have even heard of a Red Dash. I would, absolutely, like to have one.

Chris, have you had one ( or more ) of these come through your room? Ever played with one? PT, Gar, Freddie, Doc ( Chop ), BBB,? Anyone?

Thank you WW! :yeah:

I've honestly never heard of a red dash cue ball, or it's been so long I just can't remember seeing/using one.

Room owners have certainly purchased fakes, thinking they were legit.

Doesn't have to be the result of nefarious intent...ya know?

But it does happen....I know of a few cases.

My personal preference is for the RC. I have never cared for the MB but can eventually adjust.

For me, the larger problem are the rooms where the owner provides nice new CBs, often MBs, and mates them with sets of balls with 100,000 miles on them.

Ditto. And, I spent at least an hour last night checking Google and all I could find was a 2 year old listing on E-bay, long since sold, and 2 listings from here ( AzB ). One from WW and one from someone else in *response* to WW. And of course, neither for sale. I also checked Hyatt and every config I could imagine for "Red Dash" cue ball in Google. Nothing comes up. At all.

I use the scripted A Aramith cue ball. I have a measle ball but I haven't taken it out of the box in years. Never could get used to all those dots.

I've been to several rooms where they've bought cheap Measles CB's... the color and weight are off, and they play like crap with a proper set of balls... that's why I carry a Red Circle.

I've never seen that red dash CB... collectible! I have a red Triangle CB in storage somewhere, not sure what make that one is.. I saw a blue Star CB for sale, wonder what THAT one is!

Michael, you might end up being the premier cue ball collector on AZ:cool:

Runner - Yeah, I think I've pretty much run the gamut for finding that Red Dash. I suppose it's a matter of timing. Someday, someone, somewhere, will put one up for sale. I do want one so I will have to hope I'm in the right place at the right time.

I saw a thread a while back on collecting different sets of balls / cue balls. There are a TON there I've never seen or even heard of. That blue star may be there.

Regards collecting, I now have 3 Blue Circles, 1 Red Circle and 2 Solid black ones are on their way from Aramithpoolballs.com and pooldawg.com, respectively, as we speak. I'm very interested see how the black ones play. They're Armamith, so... we'll see.

My first Black beauty has arrived! She is GORGEOUS! I'll find out tomorrow how well she plays. I'm in LOVE.

For the guys that think the red circle ⭕️ ball draws better is because most of them are so old they now weigh much less than a normal ball.

I weighed a bunch of balls at Buffalo’s several months ago. My personal set of Centennial balls all weigh 167/168 grams including the blue circle and measle ball. I weighed four red circle ⭕️ balls. Only one weighed 167g. One of them weighed 156g.

hah, great insight

Thought I would try and get some actual numbers to go with my casual
observations. Sorry the pics turned out so big.

It's quite clear why that cue ball with the large red dot (I can't tell if it's a pro cup measle ball as I can only see one red dot?) is significantly smaller and lighter than the red circle, It is due to the obvious age and the wear and tear on it which is easy to determine by the hundreds of miscue marks you can see on it!

The measle ball is dirty, as this room cleans the balls only on tues. and thurs.
as those are league nights. There are six spots on the ball. But this is why I have
my own cue ball, mainly for consistency playing one pocket.:grin-square:
