Are Brunswick Centennial Cues Any Good?

Those cues play pretty good. I have a friend with a set similar to this with his home table. They are great for your guests to use because they look like something "special" compared to just house cues. He puts his in cheap vinyl cases so they can pull them out and put them together like he does with his nice cues. Kids really like this!

....I now recall that Joss made them for a few years and I have seen them - but it's been a while but I recall discussing Joss made Brunswick's. Those dates coincide with Joss history as well. If your versions were made by Joss, they wouldn't have the Canadian sticker. Also, from the pics, compared to newer cues the shafts do look like they have patina so it makes sense they could be 15 years old.

Anyway, that was fun. I suggest searching the forum and google for Brunswick cues made by Joss.

The Joss cues were late 90s early 2000s IIRC.

The most popular series was the Magnum line.

The cues made by Joss were all marked as such IIRC. But even if they did a series or 2 that werent, they all had a Joss look to them.

Thanks Chuck, it's been a while. I almost forgot about these. Palmer did an earlier line for Brunswick as well. This gave Brunswick dealers extra product for their retail stores.

Adam, Falcon, Dufferin, Joss and Palmer all did lines for Brunswick at one time or another after Brunswick stopped manufacturing their own cues in the 1960's. Then you had the Brunswick Taiwan imports as well in the 1970's made by Imperial.

They're here!

The cues arrived yesterday. They are really very nice! They are obviously used, but not much. The shafts still feel new. The tips are hardly shaped at all.

The only indication of weight is the sticker that says "Made in Canada." I wish it was stamped somewhere so I could remove the stickers.

While the shafts are interchangeable, we found they mated-up best with certain butts.

They play nice, the family enjoyed them.

Congratulations on your purchase and Merry Christmas. I also just received the same model cues as a set that came with a Brunswick Cromwell table I purchased. Just wondering if you have any info as to where I can find new shafts? The shafts on the 18 and 19 oz cues are warped, but the 20 and 21 are straight. The stickers on mine are oval and only show the weight, not country of origin. Also my pins are different than yours... they are threaded all the way to the tips.

I'm not an expert on these, sorry! TATE seems to be a cue expert, perhaps he can chime in. I wish I knew how to "fix" a warped shaft, my snooker cue has a warped shaft.

I imagine, if you wanted to spend the dough, you could send them to someone who could fit new shafts, using your shafts' hardware and trim. Perhaps a question for the "ask the cuemaker" forum.

Cheers,

jv
