Are College Billiard Teams Still Popular?

I had a chance to play in the Northern Illinois Univ. room a few years ago. Place was empty when I was there, seem to remember it was a Saturday.
 
I know there currently is no team or even pool club here at the University of Scranton. However there are some of the dorms that have valley tables in them. There is also a lot of local bars that have valley tables as well. Far as local pool halls go there are some in neighboring towns but I am pretty sure all in the actual city of Scranton are gone,
