Are Scott Whisler cues very well known and desirable?

I am curious if Scott Whisler cues are worth very much money?

Are they a very difficult cue to sell, if you had one that you needed to sell?

For example, if you listed one on ebay (with a very low starting price, and no reserve), do you think it would sell for a decent amount of money (at least what it is probably worth)?

I have an opportunity to buy one (for $300), but I am clueless about them, and how much they are worth.

I have not seen pictures of the cue yet (waiting on pictures to be emailed to me), but I am told that it is a 4 point cue with a leather wrap.

I am just very curious if Whisler cues are very known and desirable.

By the way, this is not a cue that I am just wanting to buy to resell. I do not have a cue, and am really wanting to find a player. But if I buy it and do not like it, then I am just wondering if it will be a hard seller (to at least be able to get what I paid back out of it).

Thank you very much for any thoughts about his cues.

The entry level price point for a pre-owned cue by a custom cue builder (sneakys, and some P/J's) is around the 300 range..

You don't see a lot of Scott's cues for sale, and I wouldn't say they are a must have for most in the know..

The good news is it's a custom 4 point cue (better news if it has veneers) with leather wrap for 300 bucks..

If it's in good shape, has 2 shafts (minimum 12.50 ish), and has some eye appeal
I don't think you'll get hurt..

The bottom line is there aren't a lot of custom 4 point cues for 300.00..

Thanks for the info.

It does not sound like they are very desirable (if even the players who do know of his cues, might not really want one, if they seen one available for sale at a fair / reasonable price).

Thanks

I usually stay out of most threads and yours in particular, but here goes...

You are looking for a cue? Stainless joint? points can either be sharp or round? and you have 300 bucks to spend? Can you squeeze a little more?Have you considered a cue without points? I have a few ideas for you, nothing of mine for sale, but here on AZ by reputable people.

just trying to help focus your search some

No, I was offered the Whisler for $300, and it is a 4 point cue with veneers and a BEM forearm. Very beautiful cue (I received pics of it).

Scott made cues in the Phoenix area a few years back. I don't know how many cues he made or exactly how long he was making them. The last I heard was that he is in California now.
I don't know the whole story so I won't start any rumors. Those are the only things I know for sure.
I never played with any of his cues, so I can't give any feedback as to hit/feel or anything like that.
Bryan Mordt is a reputable cue maker in the Phoenix area. Not sure if he posts on here but he may know more about Whistler cues.

Here is Bryan's site... http://www.bcmcue.com/
