Are there any old archives of previous APA singles nationals player lists?

I am curious if there are any old archives of previous APA singles nationals player lists (list of the players who placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and so on).

I was at the APA singles nationals in 2002 (just to play the mini tournaments, because I did not qualify to play in the singles nationals), and the guy who one the 9 ball singles nationals (playing as a 9) really impressed me.

He was a really great player, I thought. The guy that he beat (who was a 7) barely got to the table the entire match, if I remember correctly. Anyways, I was really impressed with his playing. I remember the $10,000 check that he received, and the huge trophy. He also won a really nice Bludworth cue (if I remember correctly), for winning the tournament.

I think I heard that he one the 9 ball singles nationals the previous year too.

I think that he said that he was from WI (or somewhere around there).

Anyways, just curious if I could possibly find out his name, and see if there are any youtube videos of him playing.

I think that he was fairly young, so he may have gotten better over the years.

Anyways, just curious if there are any old archives for the APA singles nationals available for online viewing, or if anyone might remember that players name?

Thanks.

You are.probably talking about Brian parks. I am.going to browse the main website and see if their might be some kind of archives of past winners.

I just went and looked ..sorry ...i.did not see any tabs that indicated they list past winners of past singles championships....surprisingly not even of past us amateur championships either....but it did mention Brian parks won 4 of those also

That is interesting. He is the player who recently won the Swanee event. Thanks for your replies.

If anyone was there and remembers the 2002 APA Singles Nationals event, and remembers who won the 6 through 9 level 9 ball tournament that year, then I would be very interested to know who he was. I remember him saying that he once beat Johnny Archer in a tournament 9 to 1, and I thought that was really cool to hear that story. Can't remember his name though, or even what he looked like.

Are you sure you're remembering correctly ???

Not Brian Parks. I won it 2004 and he won it after I did. He is a good friend of mine.

He was a really strong player, from what I remember. That is really cool that you won it. It was not easy, even to qualify to be in that tournament. Had to win 2 qualifiers (1 local, and then 1 more bigger qualifier with stronger competition). It was a really exciting experience for me, being out there (just playing in the mini tournaments). I did pretty well (won 6 out of the 7 I played in), as a 5. Some of those 5's were pretty strong players (for being 5's).

Rich plays awesome and is as quiet and polite as you could ask for. One of the nicest, great players you could ever meet. I had heard that he kind of stepped away from pool for work reasons. Good financial decision I would think but I hope he still plays because he loves the game.

Yeah, he was a really nice guy. Amazing that he won it 3 years in a row (and as a 9). I imagine that it was not easy giving all of those sandbaggers weight out there in Vegas. He really ran that 7 (that he played in the finals) over though. He may not have missed a ball the entire match.

If memory serves me correct, the APA "asked" him not to play any more in the 9 ball singles after the 3rd win.
