are you a strickland fan??

Earl has been doing this for years. His antics have only grown more dramatic. He still may very well be the GREATEST 9 ball player of all time. I'll always be a fan of EARL the PEARL!

Gotta chime in.

Earl is one of a kind and one of the best ever for sure. I remember watching him and Mike Siegel kill everybody for years. They were my idols. So I Have to say I like him. I do not necessarily agree with him, but hell who cares?

He was and is a great player and there is much respect given and deserved for his game. I think he makes for good TV. Can't wait to hear what he might say next--Mike too!

"John McEnroe's sharking techniques. It worked for John and it works for Earl. Its part of the new game---like it or not." --Not good at quoting, but someone said this.

Wow this is nothing new at all, these "sharking techniques" have been around forever. Ever heard of Phil Noble?

Old school guys like myself have a million moves. We can shark you with a joke, or a smoke!:D
He may play tennis, but if anything McEnroe picked up on the hustle of the mind game.

i here so many people say they hate him and alot of people say they like him.. i was curious to see the ratio of how many people like him to how many people hate him.. imo he is a verry great player (one of my favorites) and he is a nice guy away from the game but he seems a little too intrested in the game.. well im not starting this thread to start an argument or anything so please just post your opinion on him and keep the arguing to a minimum.. thanks

More or less I am. I just accept him for who he is, as I try to do with most people. I enjoy watching his play and sometimes even enjoy watching his antics. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of one of his diatribes though.

Its hard to disagree that Earl isn't the greatest ever 9 BALL player when you look at his WPC and US Open wins. Seems like a decent guy away from the table and funny to watch sometimes.

All he has to do is sit down and be quite when its NOT HIS SHOT, and he can pretty much do what he wants when its his shot, as long as he doesn't insult anyone of course! I was going to say be a better loser but to be honest he doesn't have to like losing, maybe he could handle it a bit better but many players have that problem sometimes including myself.

I agree with

Cats and TheOne above on their comments. I do love to watch him play. He is like a great conductor guiding his orchestra through one of Mozart's or Bethoven's symphonies.

I am a EArl Strickland fan of his game not his attitude. He is that way only when competing. I live in his neck of the woods and he one time was playing golf with some guys that weren't very good but love to play. He does play golf very well also but when he realized that they didn't challenge his game he pulled his bag off of the cart and walked back to his car just after he said quote "you guys are bringing my game down" end quote. I'm telling ya he is of a different bird. I like him though.:D

Earl The Legend

i love to watch earl....earl is great for pool and tv

Earl is good for pool. He's a living legend, good for the game and has earned the right to act a little wacky. I'd like to think he doesn't take himself real serious.

I am a fan of Earl's playing ability. I like watching him shoot (preferably without 3 gloves, finger extenders and hockey tape).

I am not a fan of the way he acts or his personality.

As a player, one of my favorites. As a person, I'm generally sympathetic to his attitude but think he needs professional help. He has some overwhelming personality traits that polarize his perception in the eyes of others, similar to Bob Knight.

Thumbs down

When did winning become not enough! You want to bet on Earl I'll bet on Efren because Earl needs all kinds of external bullshit to pump him up and the older he gets the more thats going to hurt his game and his rep.

I like to watch Earl play and I don't think anyone can deny he's one of the best 9 ball players ever. I go to the US Open every year and you'll see the largest crowds near the table where Earl is playing and some love him and some hate him, but they want to watch Earl play. He's a colorful guy however you take his antics and I think he's good for pool (most of the time).

I can't say that I hate anyone. May not approve of stuff they do but don't hate them.

I enjoy watiching Earl play but don't always pull for him to win. Depends on who he is playing against and who his next oppnonent might be.

Overall Earl is good for the game. If it weren't for Earl we would all have someone else we loved to dislike.

not sure what the record is face to face between Earl and Efren. but, how many U.S. Open's and World Championships does Efren have? how many does Earl have?

True Fan

Yes
I'm a very big fan of Earl. He is the reason I play the game. When I was a kid growing up in Akron OH. He had won the Akron Open 3-4 times in a row. And he would come into the poolroom in the middle of the nite looking for someone to practice with. So I would rack and watch. I always made it a point to be there. He would come in and say you want to play. I could'nt play a lick. We or I sould say He would play till it got light out. Then he would take me to breakfast at Bob Evans. He was always very nice to me and all my buddies. My friends and I still talk about those nights everytime we get together.

Tim in New Mexico.

gotta like Earl

Earl is the one everyone compares to if you finnish before or behind Earl you know what level you played at. I am a big Earl fan from NC.

Earl was one of the first players I started to be able to recognize when I wasn't following the game that closely. He can be good for promotion, and he's got skills to back it up. His sportsmanship is not going to make him a role model though.

Oh, and whoever was listing all of his accessories missed out on the glasses.

Earl

You can put me down as a fan, too. He stresses around match time, but shoots lights out when the time comes.
