i here so many people say they hate him and alot of people say they like him.. i was curious to see the ratio of how many people like him to how many people hate him.. imo he is a verry great player (one of my favorites) and he is a nice guy away from the game but he seems a little too intrested in the game.. well im not starting this thread to start an argument or anything so please just post your opinion on him and keep the arguing to a minimum.. thanks

I'm a fan. the man's a legend in my book.

whether he's the greatest player ever is debatable, although he's definitely one of them. however he is definitely the most inspiring player to play the game. watching earl knock balls makes me want to play more so than when any other player does it.

Hey, MRX, you could start a "poll" to get a quantitative answer. I wonder if a moderator has the ability to turn this thread into a poll? (May I suggest (a) Love him, (b) Hate him, and (c) Mixed feelings?)

I think he's funny as hell and he shoots pretty good too...LOL If you can't handle his evil twin to bad for you. I'll never have to play him :)

Respect his accomplishments, not his behavior and attitude.

I would rather not watch his antics, they're disgusting to me.

That was a great idea to start a poll.

Earl is a great player and a nice guy outside of the game. Just a little information---he is also an avid tennis player and I believe he has added a new dimention to the game by using John McEnroe's sharking techniques. It worked for John and it works for Earl. Its part of the new game---like it or not.

Here's how to start a POLL:
You may notice that some threads on this forum also include a section where you can vote on an issue or question. These threads are called 'polls' and this is how to create them:

Creating a new poll

When you post a new thread, you may have the option to also create a poll.

This function allows you to ask a question and specify a number of possible responses. Other members will then be able to vote for the response they wish, and the results of the voting will be displayed in the thread.

An example poll might be:

What is your favorite color?

Red
Blue
Yellow
Green
Sky-blue pink with yellow spots
To create a poll when you post a new thread, simply click the 'Yes! post a poll' checkbox at the bottom of the page, and set the number of possible responses you want to include.

When you click the submit button, you will be taken to the poll creation page, where you can specify the question and the list of responses you want to include.

You may also want to specify a time limit for the poll, so that (for example) it only stays open for voting for a week.

Voting in and viewing a poll
To vote in a poll, simply select which option you want to vote for, and click the [Vote!] button. You may view the current results for a poll before you vote by clicking the 'View Results' link. Voting in a poll is entirely optional. You may vote for any of the available options, or cast no vote at all.

Generally, once you have voted in a poll, you will not be able to change your vote later, so place your vote carefully!

Warm Regards,
JoeyA

My answer is yes i am a fan. have been for a long time. ever since i had a chance over at country club billiards to really sit and talk with earl and see how much he loves the game. Is he tempermental,,yes,, does he deserve all the negative remarks,,,sometimes. I read the article about his out burst at the IPT with Nick Van Denbergs family. My question is this. Were they trying to shark earl by talking when he was shooting. Would anybody here like it if their opponents family started talking when they were shooting? I am not going to stick up for him. He is a big boy and can defend himself.....................mike

Tom "Dr Cue" Rossman on Earl Strickland:

"The Man Simply Has A Tremendous Skill Level"

i agree.
what i wouldnt give to be able to play anywhere near like he can.

I'm a Earl fan. He is one of the best players to ever pick up a cue. He is a very intense player.
