Area rugs under pool table?

I have berber carpet over concrete in the rec room, a plusher type in man cave and basement bedroom.

funny I’m having a diamond delivered wednesday . My old table was taken out yesterday and I put in an area rug today lol . If you have an Ollie’s bargain outlet check it out. You won’t touch their flooring prices and it’s good stuff. The same stuff you get at Home Depot or lowes at half the price. I did it to dampen the nice in the room And also it’s in my garage so I didn’t want to be on concrete all the time.

I put a rug under mine, but basically it's just for looks. It's pretty thin, but your feet sometimes catch on the edge, but you never feel like you are tripping.
I didn't buy a bigger one at the time because of the cost, but when I plan on recovering, I will look for a bigger one about 2' bigger all around.
One thing I will say is, with the table on a tile floor, it teaches you how to break without sending the cue ball off the table
A work of art, Beautiful, envy... Guy

Room pic?

My 16x20 out bldg pool room only.
Flooring is over concrete slab.
5 rolls of 1/2'' rubber. 4'x16'. cost me in 2016 almost $800, but it runs Upward and lips up on the outer walls, love it.
Looking at thread #7, carpet squares glued/secured on the outer edges, might work.
The outside perimeter of carpet in #7 is a big concern.... like you mentioned..... friends' & guests in play, it will snag roll up the edges.
My table goes in next week. I've had this table up against a wall for the last 23 years (and I played on it every day). Just retired & bought a house with "SPACE" finally I will actually be able to walk all the way around it 😁

Notice the rubber flooring lipping on the side walls.

And it's definintely got enough skirting to not be trippin/catchin the edges of the carpet during play, I like it.

If you are referring to mine, thanks, and I've never tripped on it. The weight of the wool keeps it in place nicely.

Mine is 12x18, works well for a 9' table. Of course it cost a bit.

DD. flooring is Extremely important for play, same goes with proper shoes in Any sport.
Now if it's just a basement show piece, that's a different game completely.
And yes my comment was in your direction.

I put a wool rug under mine. I've slipped too often on hard floors. The will feels great in bare feet. I don't allow shoes in my room.View attachment 703536
We don’t allow shoes to be worn in the house but i have a pair of shoes in the pool room I wear when I’m playing. I’m kind of a stickler for doing the same thing when playing at home that I do when I’m competing so I wear shoes because I’m not walking around barefoot at the bar or pool room 😂

I do allow slippers or 'indoor only' shoes. Mostly it's about pebbles in shoe tread scratching floors. My slippers have a decent rubber sole, so they feel like shoes.

That makes sense. I totally understand.

Concrete garage floor covered with 1/2” gym floor foam. 2’x2’ squares that puzzle piece together.
It’s been a year, IIRC about $350 for the 2 car garage.
Installation was a breeze. The tiles cut with a razor knife and the only time I was on my knees was under the table.
Comfortable to stand on and the lay nice and flat after you walk on them for a bit.
I vacuum when I do the table and mop it when company is coming.

The only downside is that furniture will leave dents.
The longer the piece is there the longer the dent takes to come out.

I have those in my shop. In front of the lathe, jointer, etc. Really helps with the foot and leg strain. I'm building a place for a pool table now and was thinking about using them as a 4 foot perimeter around the table.
