Area rugs under pool table?

If you have a ball go off the table, chances are it is going to land well beyond the size of your rug, unless you have a rug that is quite a bit larger than your table, IMHO.

Yes they make them super big and that is the size I would recommend. Along with saving the backs and knees, it will also save the balls, and whatever hard flooring you might have. It will also quiet the room down quite a bit.
Edit: I would just like to add something for the younger folks who like to go shoeless. Standing for long periods without arch supports will tend to lead to Planters Fasciitis, trust me! You don’t want that! Extremely painful and it can be a long process getting it corrected. Wear shoes with proper support.

I am going to put the 18" x 18" sticky back carpet under and around my table... Hope to install it this weekend.. Will post pics

Old thread, but resurrected! I put 2’ carpet tiles around the perimeter. When I first put them in they fit nice and tight, then the dog did some hot laps around the table and I had to redo them with some border strips.

Did an area rug in the basement then got matching carpet tiles later to put down around the parameter. Some heavy duty carpet tape and they haven’t moved

I'm just about to have my GC3 installed in my new room with hardwood floors & wanted some thoughts on whether or not to put an area rug under it? I'm sure it looks nicer with one but does it get in the way (tripping over the corners)? Any suggestions please.
