Arizona Desert Classic Tour Matches

Frost is 18-1 in last two matches on winner side today. Playing very strong. Beat me (Dennis Orender) 9-0 and now Mitch Ellerman 9-1. Both matches in about 30 mins each. He played Jimmy Mendoza in between and wins 9-6.

for those wondering, i'll translate for you:

"wonder boy"- we always wonder what the boy is going to do next (as he is running racks).

"i'm still on the 202"- he can never get anywhere on time, not even to a tourney. He always calls and says, "i'm still on the 202" (freeway in Phoenix)

Rick, love your work. Looking forward to seeing all the pics.

Was a great tournament, with some real high quality pool. Already looking forward to next stop in Tucson.

Scott and Jimmy just finished up the finals. Congratulations to the first tour stop winner on the 2008 AZ. Desert Classic Tour, Mr. Scott Frost. He defeated Jimmy Mendoza in the finals by a score of 13-9.

Congratulations to Jimmy Mendoza for a great 2nd place finish. Both of these players, undoubtedly, played better than anyone else throughout the two-day tournament. Both were very deserving.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the event. The next tour stop will be on April 12/13, at Main Street Billiards, in Tucson. This will be a big table 8-ball event. Check out the website (www.desertclassictour.com) for more details.

See you all in a few weeks.

Dennis

Rick, could u send me the link for the photo page for the tour. I want to have it added to our site. Thanks again!

Well I meant to post earlier, but I was late coming home because got stuck on the 202! :D

I feel like our first event was a success. We were hoping to draw at least 50 for our opening event, and we drew 57. In some parts of the country, that wouldn't be a great turnout, but it's definitely respectable here in Phoenix, especially when it's somewhat rare when our local events attract any players from out of town to help add to the number of participants (with the exception of the Desert Dust Off).

I got my first taste of being on the other side of the tournament chart, so to speak. Even though I did not run the tournament (Bull ran it and, as usual, did a great job), being one of the tour directors/promoters/whatever-you want-to-call-us, I was one of the guys on the receiving end of all of the feedback, both positive and, in very few cases, negative as well. I think I have a new-found respect for all of the people out there who have spent time organizing, planning and running tournaments.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and we hope to see you all again at Main Street Billiards in Tucson in April.

Desert ClassicTour PHOTO Online.........

I have the photos posted online.... http://www.pbase.com/rixx/arizona_desert_classic_tour

On the top right of the page there is a 'Slideshow' option. It will stop you from having to click on each shot.

Not quite the selection I was hoping to have.....sorry if I missed you. The good thing about this tour is....I get to see most of you guys every month. So, it's just a matter of time till I get some great shots of you!!

Thanks!

Thanks, Rick.

Congrats Jimmy M. on your 2nd place finish and on top of that while helping to coordinate the event. Impressive...

Looked like a very nice event. Unfortunately I couldn't participate and could only watch a little (semi-final with you and Mitch).

Good job on the tournament turn out.

How'd the 8 & under sidepot work out?
