Arizona pool player thread

I played until 1:00 AM Monday morning at Metro to get 2nd place in their
6 & under 8B and I'm 68. All I hear from you monster players
is " I have a cold" or "I hurt my hip" or " Bar Valleys aren't worth my time."
Man-up. If you were sleepin' in your car in Steubenville , Ohio
you wouldn't take the day off for a hip pointer or turn down action on
a beer stained Valley. Why, in my day......:lmao: I love needling you young guys.:poke:

LMFAO! Good job on the 2nd place at metro. Tough place to get a win.

I need to get some rust off before I play Mr Abie some 10 ball. Don't want to embarrass myself too bad being the weakest 7 ever  Let me know if the warden will allow an excursion this weekend to stir some shit up lol.

How about excursureing to OX for 12 & under scotch doubles on Sat . The 17th. I need a win there. I think they think I'm losing my game. I'll PM you.

Why head all the way down to The OX for that tourney when you can hit up the $500 Guaranteed Added 9-ball event at Stingers this Saturday?

With the holidays, I'm not sure how great the turnout will be.

First place has been $1000 every month so far.

Ox is closer to me than stingers lol. Plus, I need my man george to pick me up when I get rattled. Also he has this thing with wanting Ox $$$ .
You playing the stingers tourny???

I gotta play on beer-stained Valleys with buckets. It's in my blood. Plus games are free.
Although I do like Diamonds and I like Stingers. Just a feeling I have playin' S/D with Jason. We synchronize our rattledness. If I'm in a tourney that goes long hours I get to acting sort of goofy and I know Jason will tolerate it and not shake his head and roll his eyes.

WE need a name for Jason to distinguish him from other Jasons. He 's always chasing down action somewhere. How about: "Chasin' Jason"

I worry about the next shot not the last. ;) Unless I miss with ball in hand. That is pretty tough to shake off for anyone I think.

I only chase 5s down to play. 6s and up chase me lol. :grinning-moose:

Did not shoot up to our usual high standards(:rotflmao1:) at Ox S/D. We
augered in. The pool spirits do have a way of humbling one, don't they?

I got 5 deep but finally lost hill-hill on the losers side. I played better there than at the Ox. Go figure. Thanks for calling them.

I have no explanation or excuse for our downfall at the Ox. We just didn't shoot good pool. 28 teams @ $25.00 plus 5,10,and 20 dollar side pots. The payoffs must have been huge.

How did Ed Scott do at Stingers 8 & under?

We aren't the only players in Arizona with things going on are we? Sure would like to hear from
other Arizonians about what's happening with them that doesn't necessarily concern the rest of the world.

Well I finally stopped by Metro last night. I was in the area visiting family and stopped by to check it out. The tables look good. Looks like they keep their equipment in pretty good shape. I was worried after all the beer stained valley comments in this thread but it's not bad at all. Hopefully I can get myself done working/ with the kids in time to get to one of the tourneys this week or next. I need some competition in my life. Haven't played a match in a couple months. I think it's time.

I know what you mean about being stuck in Gilbert, the Land of No Billiards. The closest thing to a pool hall is Jester's which is gilbert and baseline.

I have an explanation. We need to play more than once a month and expect to win lol. That or some of the dark arts was used on us :p

Metro isn't a bad place. Gets a bad rep for not using the best equipment (diamonds) . Their big tables are crappy but they keep all the tables playing decent for what they are. Jaz is a good T.D. and won't put up with any B.S. from players or the drinking crowd. Only place I know of that has a tourny every night of the week and does monthly's. Let us know how you do!

Yeah. Main st is your only decent option. No disrespect meant to jesters, but thats more of kiddy hang out than a pool hall.

Well, since you asked...

I practiced 14.1 end patterns for about an hour tonight.

I live in Gilbert... and I also get in my vehicle to drive outside of Gilbert to play pocket billiards tournaments.

The last weekly tournament I played in, I won.

The last two DCT tour stops I played in, I placed.

I qualified for the 14.1 world championships back in August but couldn't make it to the tournament (in September) because hurricane Irene blocked out all incoming flights on the day I was supposed to fly.

I will never give Charlie Williams or Dragon Promotions another dime of my very hard earned money.

The Arizona ratings committee could care less about myself, anyone else that plays on the DCT tour, or any player rated above an 8.

I started a weekly open tournament at Skip and Jan's on Monday nights. It died after about 4 months due to low attendance.

I miss the Southern Arizona Straight Pool League that Jimmy Mendoza and Al Terpstra started and I took over for the following 2 years.

I still play with a Tony Zinzola cue... even after the negative thread about him and his workmanship.

From the looks of it, Jason stood up Abie today because he slept in. I don't know if Abie is mad at Jason.

I don't like pina coladas (I hate coconuts and anything coconut flavored) and I absolutely hate getting caught in the rain (it messes up my hair).

I'm pretty sure Mike Williams still wants to sleep with me.

Hopefully this should provide some fuel for the fire.

Discuss.

Quote:"The Arizona ratings committee could care less about myself, anyone else that plays on the DCT tour, or any player rated above an 8."

I'm curious. Would you clarify this?
