Arizona Ratings Convertions to ABC System Discrepencies - Opinions Wanted

Lets get it on Arizona!!!

I would like to see Dennis and Bobby play.

I would like to see Bernie and Jimmy play.

I want the winner of the BRKNRUN vs. BigCat match. I would like to play a "Master of the Table" style set where its; Banks, 1-Hole, 14:1, 10-ball and 8-ball, with money on each set so they all have to be played.

I am also putting out a challenge for SCOTCH, with the same format as above. (I should probably check with my partner first ) If the teams are unevenly matched weight could be applied.

Sorry to hijack the thread but it seems a lot of AZ people are on here.

To answer your question Ray, i think it should be kept simple.

Pro 10-2 and above
Short Stop 10-1
A -10s
B - 9s and 8s
C - 7s and below

I think the problem today is too many people are over rated.

I might just take you up on that. It isn't that I hate the game so much as I hate getting beat to death every time I play it!

They could be 10-4s,I just think that Scott should be higher,he is the same rating as Mitch but what would Scott give Mitch if they are matching up?In NY the system starts at a 5 and goes to the +8,it can go higher if someone is that good,there are more numbers and people are dialed in where they should be.I was rated a 9 in NY,I was probably on the verge of being a +1,in certain tournaments I was a +2,a person who is a +5 or higher is someone who is an open player and very solid.I just think the more numbers the better people will be dialed in,in AZ every number has its weak and strong,people saying he is a strong 10 or a weak 10.The sad part is that I have seen a few 9s I will play even for money and some 10s who cant break and run out if there life was on it and you know what,I suck! :grin:

I think like all rating systems, the one we have here in Arizona has it's flaws.

Handicapping Systems in Amateur Sports are not perfect be it Golf, Tennis, Bowling, Pool, etc. Also where you have Money, Prizes, Trophies at stake for good play, well let say things could be manipulated.

My philosophy though, is that if you're going to use a Handicapping System, then accuracy is vital. The more inaccuracy, the more it opens the door to many comments mentioned in this thread.

Don't get me wrong, nothing has to be perfect. But the closer we get, or at least strive for, then the better it'll be.

Well when MONEY, or GREEN as I like to call it is involved things will never work perfectly. As SOME Room/Bar Owners are motovated by MONEY, or GREEN as I like to call. Because people rating effects good customers who if not raised will no longer be customers.

How can I see you play when you NEVER go play anywhere or let me know where you are going to go play. I have asked you many time where you play. For some reason you keep it all a secret. You told me to ask around to see how you play and I did. Now that I have done that you try and discredit it. When is the last time you have been to Kolby's? I trust the poeple I have asked and they wouldn't lie to me - they have no reason to. Besides the fact they said you were weird they said you suck as well. The most common answer was you are rated a 6 and probably shouldn't even be that. Just as I had suspected.

If you want to discuss this further start another pointless thread or send me a PM or meet me somewhere and we can PLAY so I can see with my own eyes. This crap doesn't belong in this thread.

BTW I think I have only play at Kolby's maybe 6 times total.

To be perfectly honest it is a PAIN IN THE A** to have to drive an hour to play in a decent BIG TABLE TOURNAMENT. Yes Kobly?s is an hour drive each way for me, and that is a LOT of GO GO JUICE.

I have been told I am WEIRD as you say, and that is just a personality trait, or persona.

I am actually nice to 99% of the people on this forum. I am nice to everyone I respect. I don't need you to be polite to me. I don't care what you say or do. I don't have to fundraise for anything. I have enough to match a social security check. LOL

The thing you don't understand is - there doesn't have to be anything in it for you to play because you are NEVER going to play anyways. I was being friendly to you and trying to get a game with you. There are those who tell me Tournament play is gambling, imho it is not. As a group of people are contribution to a prize fund. Than playing a game of skill, and some times some luck for said prize fund. .

Gambling like Drug or Alcohol Abuse is a DISEASE that give the Gambler a RUSH, not winning or loosing, the placing of the bet. The out come is totally unimportant.

Wow. So you want to play 5 different sets, different disciplines, with money on each set?

You do realize that Ken and I were going to play for a sandwich, not money? I don't think it was a real challenge match. It was just for fun. If you want to challenge either of us for a real money match, perhaps post a challenge in the Action Room section.

BTW, I would be more than happy to play you for an all-around match (similar to what Roger Long and I are doing) for some cash.

P.S. As for my original question - I guess it's all subjective and Roger Long has got it pretty close. The Arizona rating sytem is horrible/awesome/<insert adjective here>... ABC sytems - who cares! No one knows what the hell a baconator is. A "9" rated player is a fish in Hard Times Bellflower. JimmyM is losing his memory. Dennis and Bernie would love to play Bobby (I don't blame them, he is not as good as he thinks he is). And BVal hurt CooCooCowboy's feelings again... but he may challenge BVal when his Social Security checks start coming in... maybe. Did I miss anything?

Edit: Oh yeah... BVal doesn't like letters, only numbers.
