Artemis cushions quesitons

I recently acquired 3 GC2's and 2 GC3's. I wanted to order some Artemis Intercontinental cushions and found that they are very expensive. Being in the business and getting wholesale pricing did not seem to help. My question is why the big price difference between the K66 profile Artemis and the the K55 profile Artemis. Most of my suppliers do not even carry the K55 profile Artemis and the ones that do want an extra $100 bucks over the price of the K66 Artemis. Looking for opinions on if the extra cost is going to be worth it. If it is worth it where is the best place to purchase. I have never had any complians using Brunswick SS cushions and wonder if I should even bother.

When I'm doing GC's I will only use Superspeed or Artemis K55. The Artemis will offer you longer life and they definitely play faster. You should try them out. Order them from Brian at Diamond Billiard Products, 812-288-7665. Tell him I sent you.

I've asked that same question many times... The intercontinental 66 (K-55 profile) is VERY pricey, Why so much more money? That being said, Artemis are the best cushions IMO.

The Brunswick Super-Speed's quality suffered greatly due to bad runs of cushions manufactured in the late eighties through the nineties. Brunswick seems to have resolved those problems, but I still have sets of Super-Speed in my shop with poorly finished top and bottom edges from recent batches...

The Artemis cushions are consistent, fast and don't dry out and get hard. They are more money but you get what you pay for...:D Properly applied Artemis is a permanent fix, something the other cushions on the market are not providing.

Give them a try, you won't be disappointed...:)

If we were talking about tires for your car that would out last your car no matter how many miles you drove it, would you still be asking the question as to why they cost so much, or would you have them mounted asap the next time you replaced your car tires?;)

Several factors come into play.
For starters the K55 is larger. Larger = heavier
A good chunk of the cost for Artemis is shipping and customs fees/taxes/etc coming in from Germany.

Rick,

There is over $100.00 difference in price between the K-66 and the K-55 profile. It seems excessive for the additional 8 oz. of material. Shipping and duty should only effect the price marginally, since it's the same composition in both profiles. There are other forces at work here, driving the price differances...;)

I continue to use them (K-55) for the reasons I stated in the above post, If they were priced the same as the K-66 profile I would stop using Super speed completely.

Glen, it's the disparity between the same product that is the issue. To use your analogy with the tires, they both would last longer than the life of the car (k-66 or K-55) We are paying 30% more for 5% more material. I also believe that the K-55 profile out sells the K-66 further reducing manufacturing costs. Diamond alone must buy thousands of sets for their tables plus replacement sets for the older tables. It just doesn't add up..

I totally agree. The price difference does not seem to have justification. Other than price being jacked up becuase they are the best. No other brand (Tour Edition, Brunswick SS, or the cheap stuff) has such a major difference in price between the different profiles.
Of course I will buy the Artemis in K55 profile because they are the best. But I just feel a little cheated by the price. But if price seemed fair to me I would not use anything else.

It's all about supply and demand guys:D how many manufactures install the Artemis Intercontinental K55 cushions on their rails at the factory level vs the Artemis K66 profile that fits just about every table out here;)

Glen

PS. The only manufacture to install the Artemis K55 cushions...is Diamond;)

I can't think of any popular OEM table brands that use Artemis other then Diamond
regardless of profile.

The only other table that I can think of off of the top of my head is Gabriel's, but that's k66

It a conspiracy. I tell you!!! Just kidding. But I am going with the Superspeed unless customer request the Artemis. I think price outweighs the benefit in this situation. We are talking almost 3 times the cost. If I keep one of these GC's for myself I will go the superspeed cushions so that is what I will recommend to my customers.
