I played a nice session with an Arthur cue, see it here:

Never having shot before for an extended time with an ivory joint, or with such a fat taper, I was thinking things would not work out well. I was very suprized however, the feel of the hit and the accuracy of the shots were very very nice!
I normally play with a 12.5mm 12" pro taper shaft, this cue has a 13mm euro-style taper, where it grows almost from the tip back. Despite that, the cue felt comfortable and I did not need to adjust much of my stoke to get action on the cueball. I am going to use it in my league match tonight, will see how some pressure situations will affect my play with the Arthur cue.
Balance was very even, just a touch towards the front. I was able to execute touch shots well with it, where the cueball moved very little. Normally with a front-heavy cue I tend to either over or under hit those. So Balance is pretty dead center (when you are holding it in your stance, I don't mean center of the cue).
The finish and look of the stick are great, inlays are perfectly centered, I could not find one spot where the ivory was off-line with the silver surrounding it. You can feel a couple of the rings through the finish, which I believe happens with a lot of even high-quality cues that have metal rings, aside from that, nothing I could find that was even a small flaw. Sighting down the stick showed that the rings lined up with each-other, and were almost dead even with the shaft rings. I may have been able to line up the shaft rings as well to 100% if I tightened it up a bit more, but it was starting to feel a bit too tight, so the shaft rings were maybe 97% even.
Yes, it's pretty pricy for a "plain stick from an unkown maker", if you can call an ivory/silver cue plain , but the playability (balance, hit, aim with spin, shaft feel), look and constuction quality are top-notch. If anyone can command 1k for a no-inlay cue, I think Arthur can as much as anyone. I'm in the middle of a deal with Drawman to get that cue, and have absolutely 0 concern that I won't like the stick down the line, or about dealing with Drawman for that matter. Although I do think he let me win a few extra games last night so I feel good about the cue
