I am curious to know why this apparently progressive news from the ABP has not found it's way on to AZ or AZ Forums.
I thought that the players would have been shouting this from the rooftops,

They gotta do something besides form Doug- they formed well over a year ago and the first problem they encountered-non timely payment at the US Open-they caved.

We have had plenty of organizations. We need an effective one and even then, it can't solve the main problem-lack of interest from anyone other than the pool cult.

Actually, what is there in this article to "shout" about? This just seems to be an updated version of the original press release. It does add players names, certainly, and that was a little interesting. But not really "news" that AZB hasn't already reported.

Oh, and here's the story Nostroke is referring to...

AZB has reported on the ABP. I expect they will do more reporting when the ABP actually does something. Which hopefully will be soon. I hope it works out, for the players and the industry. We simply haven't seen evidence of it yet.

Perhaps they have done something and it hasn't been reported on, and that would be a shame...

Well they seem to have acquired a Secretary and Treasurer- step forward Oscar Dominguez and the original 'gang of 10' seems to have more than doubled.

I am slightly more impressed but still feel they will have to prepare for battles ahead and their armory is not well stocked.

Right now tournaments would still take place without any of the names listed.

I read it. It's all about them and what they want, but no where did I find anything about how they would work with existing promoters to help promote their events. I inquired about that over a week ago and have received no response.
It takes two to tango baby. :D

Jay
You and me both know what they should be doing and they walk a rocky road

I totally agree with Jay. It takes two.

When the players announce that they will begin to promote their own tournaments and create a tour, that will be progressive news and I will shout it from the roof tops.
As it is, they are just telling promoters that they want to be paid. there is nothing new there.

It's been over a year and nothing is changed. In fact, IIRC, when the payments were delayed at the U.S. Open 9 Ball, didn't the ABP officially endorse the delayed payment plan?

They also seem to be off to a slow start with the membership. 41 members in over a year? That's less than 1/2 the field at many events.

If it does indeed move pro pool forward and create a better situation for the pros, I'm all for it. But so far we are in a holding pattern to see how this pans out.
