I might get sent to Atlanta for a few weeks in March or possibly later this year. Just wondered if there are any good pool halls, players, or tournaments there or close by?
Thanks in advance

THAT PLACE IS HUGE!@# OMG! So many tables, I'd rather not even guess as to the number. There is plenty of action in Atlanta too, just bring your A game.

I think it has been a looooong time since you have seen your D, C and E games.TheOne said:OMG I gotta find my D, C and E first, still be nice to have something to practice for. Thanks for the info

It is just off of Pleasant Hill Road. Johnny Archer and Kim Davenport have a room in Marietta(just north of ATL on I75) that has a mix of gold crown 4's and Olhausen 9fters, all in good shape. You cannot smoke in the Pool Room at Duluth, you can in the rest. Big action is now at the Pool Room in Duluth, but there is some action at all three. For my dough, I go with the Pool Room, cause it has better food, tables, and action than the others, but location may be a factor for you, as Atlanta isn't a small town. Hope this helps.
Shannon Daulton's Great Southern Billiard Tour stops in and around Atlanta!TheOne said:wicked thanks guys (and marrissafor the info, sounds like a few options and I forgot Johnny plays there.
Not sure where I'd be staying but I'd be working on Ravinia Drive near the perimeter mall.
Do any of the regional tours have any stops in Atlanta does anyone know?
I really hope I can go in March though as might be able to go to Valley Forge afterwards which I've still never been too! (although I know this is in PA not exactly Atlanta!
Cheers again

I concur with the rest of the group that the best place to play is "The Pool Room" in duluth. It is a 15 to 20 minute drive from the Ravinia. I play up there at lunch quite often and would be glad to bang a few racks with you while you are in town.
One other place that is worth noting is Mazzy's in Alpharetta ( 15 minutes from the Ravinia). It is more of a sports bar environment, but has eleven 8foot Olhousens and lots of dart boards. To me it has the best environment to have fun if you want to play some and have a good time. There is some small action there as well, mostly $20 t $50 sets and the competition is more middle of the road. At Cues II or the Pool Room you can get in higher dollar matches and more serios competition. Mazzy's has league night on Wednesday and Thursday and there are a few Local Brits that play if your interested in seeing some of your countrymen. They also have a 9ball tourney on Saturday and an 8ball tourney on Sunday. Last bit of info, the beer selection is good there and you can actually meet a cute girl or two if that is on your agenda. You will not get that at Cues II!
I hope you have a good time in our fair sity and feel free to PM me to play or if you have more questions.

(a and c-d respectively), and one pocket on wed. the pool room has a thurs. 8 ball tourney. marietta billiard club used to have 8ball on sat. 9 ball on sunday in the afternoons - don't know if they still do. bigshots has the same touneys on the same days but 8 foot tables - so-so shape (the room is in marietta). and side pockets (also in marietta) has a saturday night 9ball tourney on kim steele 9 footers. you can pm any another questions or help with directions.
