A friend of mine has a 4-1/2x9 ATLANTIC BILLIARD COMPANY POOL TABLE. He has owned it for at least 10 years. While having it re-covered, the mechanic mentioned that he thought that the table might be a very rare and valuable antique from the 1920's or so.

Apparently the bracing for the 1" slate is made of 6"x6" wood. It has the original ball return system, however, the owner replaced the pockets with leather drop pockets, to his liking. The return system can easily be replaced, as he has all of the parts stored away.

Are there any conneseurs of old tables that might know an approximate value for this table? It is in excellent condition. Still has the original rails that play absolutely perfect!

This table is located in Central California.

C'mon guys! There's got to be some East Coast boys who remember these great tables. I am getting pics of this table from the owner, and will send them out individually to anyone who has any guesstimates.

Thank you to the gentleman who pm'd me. I will be getting the pics to you as soon as I get them from the owner.

Have you seen the table?

It is most likely a Brunswick - it was a very common practice to change
nameplates on tables. Atlantic Billiard may well have just been a supply
company that re-covered the table at some time.

Try browsing through Brunswick's site with pics of antique tables.

Without a pic, there is not much chance of IDing the table.

Good luck with your efforts.

To the OP...If you really want some kind of definitive answer, and you believe it is an East Coast table, I'd contact Blatt Billiards in NYC. They probably know more about old tables than most. Pictures are imperative.
