Just wondering the difference between the hurlbert and their genuine irish linen? I have always ordered the genuine but I'm wondering what the pros and cons are of both. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I can only speak about Hurlbert. I still have like a 90 lb's left from what I ordered years ago from Hurlbert when it came on the nice plastic spools. I like the Hurlbert because the wrap has a real feel to it. When pressed you can feel the thickness almost like leather. I found other wraps felt hard after pressing especially the Blue Mountain, I hate that stuff. It is like you could feel the wood underneath. Hurlbert I guess seems to have a texture to it when finished. I don't like all the colored wraps as either. I only like white with black, white with green, black with white and cream, sort of an off white. I think all those other colored wraps look goofy. Just my opinion though.

Hi,

I like both brands. I buy the big spools, it's way cheaper. When I put on a wrap, I spin off 40 yards into a large cardboard box (2'x2'x2') and when I install the wrap I put the box on the floor behind my left side and let the linen payout from the box to my hand. It works great. I used to try to put the spools on a wood dowel and let them spool off. The box on the floor work better for me.

I put the spool in a box or right on the floor and let it bounce away as it spools off. I've noticed with Atlas sometimes you will get a big lump in the linen. Never had that with Hurlbert.
