Kimber's are nice 1911's but I'd steer clear of them for carry purposes. They have way too many MIM (metal injected molding) parts which have proven prone to break. Sure, lots of you have Kimbers that run fine but I've also seen a ton of broken Kimber parts as well. MIM is just a cheap way to go...I'll not go so far as to say they are the Moochie of 1911's but you get my drift. And well...they are pretty. I prefer Ed Brown in a 1911...all hand made parts, no junk...about the top of the food chain in 1911's. Larry Vickers hand made pieces are right there too...stuff you can trust your life with. For less $$$$ the Sig 1911 is a fine weapon with all premium parts. They still make Black Talon's too...except they are called Rangers (not blk anymore) and sold to LEO only. Readily available though to anyone with a credit card over at Glocktalk. Golden Saber, Gold Dot, and Corbon Pwr'ball are all fine carry ammo too.

Well, I like my Sig too.
Ed Brown re-trained his people to use CNC. Still great guns though.
Ruger uses a lot of MIM's too but they hold up well.
