Atrox Tool?? Anyone get theirs yet?

I ordered mine in the first round, but I am from overseas.

Haven't got it yet. Maybe a delay in production?

Well mine arrived in the mail today and I am sending it back once David responds to me. I am very disappointed with the "cheapness" of the item, the burnishing portion does not work very well at all. Plus it is PLASTIC, I thought it was some type of aluminum since it was $35. Maybe somwhere on the site it says it is plastic but I did not see that. This should be priced (for the quality) around $7-$11 max. David has been good about responding to my questions and pm's though. I just pm'd about a refund so I will let you know how that goes. Also the shaft cleaner in the little bottle smells, looks, and the texture is identical to soft scrub....oh yeah and the active ingredient is the same as well.

I've got an old PM from DM (only read once), and some leftover rice in the rice cooker (fresh crop!), AND a coveted screw-on tip (just drill a pilot in any ferrule and hammer it in!)

I'm throwing in the screw-on tip because it doesn't work well with ivory ferrules. I almost ruined the tip!!

Deal??

its a nice product..and pretty effective. my only disappointment is that its kinda cheap plasticky..i thoguht it would be metal..but it feels like cheap easily breakable plastic.

To clarify a few things to everyone about the ATROX TOOL:

The target material of the tool is made of an extremely dense plastic resin. Plastic doesn't equate to cheapness. After all,we did put a lifetime warranty on it. Any other traget material (metal or aluminum) would scratch the ferrule during the burnish. Every feature of the tool works great, especially the burnisher. We chose that material so it would not scratch the ferrule. AND there's is no possible way a person could snap the tip off. They would break the cue first.

When opened we had one of our staff that weighs 230 lbs stand on it, on the hinge, he balanced himself on the ball of his foot on one leg and tried to break it and couldn't. The steel alloy shapers are so durable that we shaped over 30 various tips and for fun we drove a house cue into it that had NO TIP, just the ferrule. After grinding and grinding we shaped the ferrule and we have the pictures of that to prove it. It will not wear out shaping tips. You could shape a phenolic tip, but they are aready shaped anyway.
This design of ATROX incorporates so many tools in one that if you were to pay a seperate price for every other individual tools on the market, you would spend in access of 40.00 to $55.00. Depending on the different tools on the market.

A durable shaper (dime radius) - 6.50 to 7.50 depending on the vendor
A durable shaper (nickel radius) - 6.50 to 7.50 depending on the vendor
A burnisher alone 5.50
A Picking tool (tip pic) by itself ranges from 9.95 to 16.95 but there are others picking tools that average 13.00
A dent buffer 9.95

And the ATROX TOOL has so many more features not listed above for the advanced player and we will continue to proudly stand behind our product.

As for delays in the US Mail, we apologize for that. Everyone has been shipped. We have only received three calls regarding order inquiries since the specials began. We have shipped over 1000 ATROX TOOLS within a 9 day period and the orders and re-orders keep pouring in from around the world.

We will be offering other specials exclusively to AZ'ers in the near future.
Thank you from the folks at DIAMONDBACK.

Thanks,David

Whether you like the tool or not, David is a stand up guy as far as I am concerned.

I was not expecting this thing to arrive this early. I picked it up at the post office this morning and it was shipped on 2/28/07 via USPS. Thanx for the speedy delivery. :D

First Impression:

1) The Atrox was plasticky for my taste. Honestly, it looks cheap. Tool appears well made and very solid.
2) The Shaft Shedding System came in 3pc; Micro Fiber Pad (grit?), Lamb skin and Snake skin. It was in a cellophane package.
3) The Shaft Cloth was well packed inside a nice clear plastic box. Lamb skin was good.
4) The Irish Linen Wrap Cleaner came in a plastic spray bottle. The label didn't indicate what generic material was on the liquid. There was caution on it though.

First thing I did was takeout item# 2 from it's cellophane packaging and threw away the sponge like material. I placed the 3pc SSS inside the clear plastic box of the Shaft Cloth. Violah... now they are inside, neat and tidy. :) If #2 (SSS) was not a freebie, I would expect it to be in the same packaging as #3.

The Atrox was made of plastic raisin. It looks really cheapy. The molding on which this is formed could do a bit of work to smoothen the surface. It doesn't mean that this thing will not work or last long. This tool appears it does. Honestly, @ 35US$, it would be a tough sell without the freebies.

That's it for now.

I received mine during the first promotion. Recieved it 4 days after order. Upon arrival, was happy with the Atrox. I had no problems using the burnisher, the tip shapers worked well, the only concern I have there is how long texture inside the shapers will last and is that covered in the lifetime warranty? I had a little problem with one of the tip pickers, on one side the spikes came loose, and I had to reglue them using super glue.

The only other problem I have now is... it is in Danny Harriman's case, and he likes it so much, I dont know if I will get it back.

In regards to the pricing issue. If the "Ulti-mate" sells for 29.99 then there should be no pricing quarrels over the $36.00 pricing of the Atrox.

I used the Ulti-mate for tip maintenance for 10 years, and thought it was the best multi-tip tool out there, until the Atrox. THe Atrox gives the Ulti-mate 11-5 and the breaks.

I am glad some people got their's in a timely manner. As for me, I didn't get it today either.

Monday will be two weeks since I payed.

Thanks Scottster. Yes the lifetime warranty covers the whole tool. The shapers as well. But you will not wear out those shapers. If you had a pin or two come loose then by all means we'll send you a new one free of charge. You can give the other one to Danny if you'd like. Like we said before we proudly stand behind our product.

That's awful nice of you. I can't wait to test it.

Good Stuff

I just got mine in the mail. Pretty cool and multiple uses. I had a pin drop out when I opened it. I don't need another one but I would like to ask a question. I have a Meucci and the wrap is filled(smooth finish). Can I use the free "Cue Shine" on the Meucci? Thanks for the complementary items. I will give them a try.

Thanks Again

yes you can use the Cue Shine on the meucci cue. As long as the wrap is covered with the laquer finish, you're good to go.

In regards to the pricing issue, Ultimate Tip tool is not $29.99. The inflated MSRP is only $19.95 and ít's easily found for between $11 and $13.

Also, most dealers are selling the A-Trox for $29.95 (not $36) without the freebies of course.

Thus, the fair price comparison would be $30 versus $13.

I'd like to take a look at the A-Trox but nothing about its online pictures or description convinced me it was worth more than double the cost of the Ultimate tip tool.

Atrox Tool

Got my order today (ordered on 25-Feb-2007).

Ordered the Atrox tool and simultaneous order of Tip Venom.

Results:

A) Too early to tell about the tip tool and how it will work out. Likely good tool just based on seeing it.

B) Tip Venom bottle was to have 0.39 oz. of product. Entire bottle and contents weighs 0.26 oz. Not sure what to think, but something appears short.

C) Edited 16-Mar-07: see comments below on 10% discount for additional purchased items

D) No AZ freebies with my order. Nada. My choice is the leather wrap conditioner for # 2.

1. A Free bottle of DIAMONDBACK Shaft Cleaner

2. A Free choice of Irish Linen Wrap Cleaner or Leather Wrap Cleaner/Conditioner

3. A Free bottle of Cue Shine (comes with a Leather Lambskin applicator)

4. Any additional purchases added to your order will receive an additional 10% discount on the extra item(s) after the order is placed. (NOTE: When you place your order, your card is not automatically charged, just authorized. So the discount will be applied before we process the transaction on our end.)

This was after emailing customer service and being told I was being sent the AZ free items and irish liner cleaner already mailed with my order.

E) Instructions for shaft ding remover part of Atrox tool says to rub in staccato motion. Not sure if this is right method of application: http://www.theviolinsite.com/video/staccato.html

Not too worried and just telling it like it is - sure over time this will get squared away.

Edited 16-Mar-2007: Sounds like they are sending me the freebies and taking care of the tip venom issue. The 10% discount for additional purchases did apply.
