I seem to remember, but can't find a score sheet for 14.1 (perhaps B. Jewett provided a link to one?) here on AZB. Anyone remember where it was?

I've created a monster. Yesterday, I decided to play some straight pool with Charlie Bryant here at the Texas Toolshed. Although he never plays 14.1, he decided that I should get 75 balls in a game to 150. OK Charlie, lets play.

During the first game, I got a high run of 24 and he had a high run of 32. I barely squeaked out the win 75-139.

That first game seemed to set a fire under his ass. The next game we played had different results. It stayed close to about 65-70 or so and then he found a great run of 83. That is now the official high run here at the Texas Toolshed. BTW, The Toolshed features a 9' Olhausen with slow nap cloth and 4 1/4" corner pockets.

We've decided to play a lot more 14.1 because it truly is the most rewarding/frustrating game there is.

Do you get the feeling that Charlie doesn't like to lose? :eek: :D :D
 
Did Charlie go into the bathroom after the first game and read Mosconis book?;)

I don't remember any on-line sheet, but the BCA used to sell pads of 14.1 score sheets. The usual one has a horizontal line of double boxes for each player. For each inning, you enter the run in the top box and the total in the bottom box. There is no good way to keep track of the run. This kind of sheet is good for keeping track of innings.

I think a better sheet would have a line for each rack with one player being scored on the left and one on the right with the totals maybe down the middle:

Rack 15. ___________________ ____ _____ __________________

This can be made to work for innings if you use a / to mark the end of an inning. Possible abbreviations to use: F=foul, BF=break foul, TF = three fouls in a row, S=(legal) safety, M=miss, R=run continues into next rack.

I think this is similar to the score sheet they use for 14.1 in Europe.

Yes, that's just like the BCA scorepads. The problem is that if a run spans several racks, you need to keep track of it some other way, since there is no room on the scoresheet to mark (5 balls + rack + rack + rack + 7 balls =54). The traditional way was for the scorekeeper to have a scratch pad and the referee to keep the count.
 
At the EPC's we used to write it down like this:
for example:
5 balls, 3 racks and 2 balls...
5/./././2
fitted quite well..

I was having trouble visualizing one and couldn't quite get it right using excel. Now I have several great ones to choose from.:)

I can't believe I have written this many posts. So instead of making it just about 1000, I figured I would contribute something with it. So I took time to make an Excel Sheet for this thread.

I made a 14.1 Score Sheet Spreadsheet based on out League's Straight Pool Score Sheet (Volcano's in Bedford, TX). Each printed sheet has 2 sides (Innings 1-50 on side one and 51-100 for side 2) This is on the first worksheet. There is also a "How To Use" Worksheet, which I am sure you will be able to figure out by the example I put in there.

This is a great way to keep score, if you don't have the beads. Plus using this will let you create stats on your game. For example: BPI=Balls Per Inning average; High Run; Misses vs Safeties; and so on.

Any Texans that wanna swing by sometime and play, PM me whenever and maybe we can work out something. Hopefully, Charlie will be in town and you can play someone who can run more than 30 balls.:)

BCA scoresheets

The old BCA scoresheets also had a small pad with the numbers 1 thru 14 on each line. The page only had lines of these numbers so the scorekeepers could get the total run before entering it on the official score sheet. You would just cross out the balls made, then when the last ball was made on the run , you would circle that number to show the end of the inning. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14
