Keep Religion out of Pool

This is an ad prepared by a Christian church. Why it's posted in this forum isn't clear to me, or to any clear thinking person. I keep my religious views to myself, and wish others would do likewise.

This had nothing to do with church and everything to do with attitude!!!

This was a short video with a good message about being thankful for what you have. It was a way to showcase understanding that everyone has difficulties and that you shouldn't only be thinking about yourself. The fact that you came out and said that just because it was made by a church, it shouldn't be promoted shows exactly where you stand. There was absolutely nothing about this video that spoke to anyone about any one religion. It was only about having scruples and being empathetic. There was nothing religious about it except to showcase a moral attitude and it shouldn't matter where it comes from, and it is about life in general, which includes the world of pool, it belongs anywhere there is society.

Let's just ignore him.

Well, like I said- it wasn't posted as 'religious material'. It was posted for the content. Sorry the message was lost on you. And I felt it was related to this forum. That is why I posted it here. Too bad you can't see that.

Let's just ignore him. It's pretty obvious that he is the tyoe of person that the video was made for. I just hope that he gets it one day so that his life can be happier. I was an angry person for a long time in my life. If you had known what I had to grow up with, you would understand why. I was recently able to get past a lot of my anger, so I can readily relate with the content of the video and I understand why some wouldn't be able to. I don't, however, understand why someone would berate something just because of who made it.

I did not see this as religous, no-where did it say "only christians act nice" or "Why can't you be more like this Jewish person in the video". Just shows that everyone has things that are not in the open and not to put yourself above others. I am a firm believer in do unto others as you would have done unto you, without any type of religious background in me at all. I'm of the "I'll believe it when I see it" mentality when it comes to never seen all-powerful things/beings/whatevers.

How was that religious?

You feel better now?

I'll keep a watch out for you on the threads that promote drugs, smoking, cheating, gambling, politics and other stuff we routinely discuss and banter about here to see if you're a hater on those threads also.

I saw the video and never saw a church ad or a promo of any denomination.

And I can't avoid this gem either...."or any other clear thinking person."
So, if a person has a faith, or wants to better themselves, or they want to help others, you get all pi$$y and you find that greatly offensive, right?
With the self-flattering implication that YOU ARE a "clear thinking person."
Get over yourself already, God and anybodies faith is more important than your fragile feelings.

I for one am glad, VERY GLAD, you keep your religious views to yourself.

And one for the road. I'm curious about "your religious views". We'll probably never know since you keep that a big secret, but where in the bible does it say to keep your religious views to yourself? Let me guess, you never read it OR you read it and now, as a self proclaimed authority on religion, you'll proclaim you don't believe in the bible either.

personally i hate religion and i dislike most overly religious people, this is more about attitude then it is about religion and i think it's a lot more pool related than half the crap u see in the main forum these days, so what if it was made by some church

It's simple

My point is pretty simple: Keep the pool forum for posts about pool. Plenty of other forums for extraneous topics.

I wasted time on that video waiting for its relevance to pool. You think it has some. I don't. We disagree. So what?

Keep religion out of pool -- and out of the pool forum. Why is this hard?

because it's not religion....

Firstly, because it wasn't religion, it was moral turpitude. Secondly, it is relevant to pool in that almost every player on this forum has seen people getting out of hand over bad rolls, bad mathups, etc... and this video is meant to help keep them from having a heart attack from the stress. I'm sure it wasn't posted here in an attempt to support a specific ministry.

While I do consider myself spiritual, I abhore most organized religion. I think the majority are money grubbers who want tax exemption and I don't personally want to waste my resources weeding through them for the ones who really believe, but I still feel that the freedom of religion means that anyone can talk about religion in any public forum, be it on the internet or not, without censure. You are stating that you feel they should keep it to themselves, and I'm sorry but that is not what the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech is all about.

Who cares if it isn't pool related?? It has a great message for everyone, even pool players. Yes, it should have been posted in NPR, but I forgive the OP because he "Is just misunderstood" !! Thanks for posting it...:)

:D
