Audience Sharking (Unintentional, but INSANE?)

Setting the scene:

The WPBA Soaring Eagle Masters, Pia Filler and Kristina Tkach are hill-hill in a race to 8. Loser will go out in 5/6th place and pocket $3,500. The winner will make a minimum of $4,500.

Tkach is looking to run out and is lining up the 6 ball into a corner facing three women. Admittedly, the shot and shape are not automatic.

The rest... the actions of the woman in a pink jacket, have to be seen to be believed. The chat lit up.

I should have the video set to the moment (1:50:10).

Starts at the beginning. Pause the video _on youtube_where you want it to start and then right click the screen to select <copy URL at current time>

The URL should post with the time stamp on the end like this:

youtu.be/sDWmx_muWfo?t=6488

Phones might be different.

OK, I think I fixed it.

I haven't watched this match in it's entirety so I don't know if there's a shot clock involved but if not Kristina , as we all know should of stood up recalled her cue while all but flipping off " pinky " until she sat herself down .

I've seen this crap done during bar pool league games by a few different players and when they try this crap on me I do just that , stand up and wait for them to sit back down or get out of the line of sight for the shot .

As far as that goes why didn't the ref get involved I know it's a tough call as people who are players know better , this is almost as if pinky was sweating this match ?

Pretty bad effort by the spectator here. This is not terribly uncommon. Spectators that rarely attend events don't always understand that when you are in a shooter's line of sight, you must make a much greater effort to stay quiet and still than on other shots.

I recall how a cell phone went off in the front row during a WPBA semifinal in about 2001, sharking the legendary Allison Fisher, who got up rather than pulling the trigger on a key shot and the shot clock was, rightly, paused. Though observably pissed off, Allison handled it unforgettably, approaching the spectator and asking of her "Is the call for me?"

There is a shot clock. There is no dedicated ref. She might have felt compelled to shoot. It looked like she might have shot the pink lady a dirty look afterward.

The WPBA shot clock is a strange one... there is no beep, beep, beep and really no punishment. It is there to move play along and to encourage the players to keep a pace. If they are bent over as it runs down and they stay bent over, they can take a long time.

Lonnie was just explaining this on the live stream for today's matches.

I rewatched this "shark moment" numerous times. Horrible! You can even add in captions. She first says to the lady next to her "Watch this." Then sits right back down and says "It worked." Sit the F down and be quiet please.
You saying you think that was an intentional shark?

So, somebody is watching an important match between two top players and the score is hill-hill and the player is down on a critical shot, trying to run out. That spectator is so disinterested in the shot and the match that they decide to stand up and wander around without apparent purpose.

Amazing.

Edit... Well maybe she got up to look at the score. Or the shot. Lordy. Here's some of the chat:
